The best:

KoRn - they started it all (Firts 3 albums are gods of nu metal)

Deftones - almost the same as KoRn

Disturbed - solos on the last album..heavy riffs..excelent lyrics

Rage Against the machine - political attitude and awesome songs

Tool - morbid videos, and awesome songs too

LP - since I was a huge fan

Worst: Everything else

About evanescence..they are insanely boring..When I heard their concert on MTV I fall asleep

I agree with almost everything u said.

I agree with KoRn, Disturbed and them cause they are awesome. Distrubed's sound is almost godly to me(hehe). KoRn, u cant NOT like KoRn.

yes they were...the combined rap and rock among other things

Nu-metal doesnt mean rap-rock, its just a "new" genre of metal, that happens to include rapping in SOME cases.

I don't think Papa Roach fits nu-metal btw

and I would say SOAD was the worst nu-metal band

Well, maybe PR's first album Infest. After that it went downhill towards rock.

Some of these bands you guys are talking about "Papa Roach, Disturbed" started out as nu metal but eventually went toward a more hard rock direction or something those lines. Others like System of a Down and Evanescence tread the line as "Alternative Rock/Metal" and incorporate various nu metal elements well as elements from other genres.

Disturbed become more heavy, that's true..they are heading to real metal if I may say. Papa roach..for this one, I'll laugh..they become emo girls with make up. Infest? The best. This new record? S**t!

I doubt that they'll leave their nu metal roots behind that far. But then some bands do change that much. Even still the hardcore metalhead isn't going to take them seriously. They'll still call them "nu metal crap" and just write them off the same way they do Trivium.

^^ The reasson we refer to them as nu-metal crap is that those that have changed style show they have absaloutly no creative control over their record label. As soon as Nu-Metal started to be sooooooo last year, rather then try to expand nu-metal or save it all the bands where simply switched to another genre. Papa Roach for example, massive sell outs all over them, they changed their style & music! All within a day or 2, although this may mainly be down to their label it shows these bands in the commercial clown light that they deserve to be in.

People in my country who are in metal music, will always accept Disturbed even if they are still deep in nu metal rather than trivium, cuz Trivium has no identity with this last album Crusade. Metallica wannabe-s..that's all. Instead of pursuing their own characteristics.

maybe things will get better...As for Papa Roach...As I mentioned before, they are dead.

To tell you the truth I don’t think nu metal was meant to be last that long. I think it was just a mainstream trend that eventually died. There was nothing to save because everybody had moved on to something else. It’s like a flavor of the month type of thing.

Well can understand why Trivium would garner so much animosity but they don’t bother me because I’m not really into the thrash metal scene where they are apparently getting a lot of their influences from. I don’t know what it’s like in your country and all but in America nu metal/metalcore bands get write off all the time as false metal. I was watching this clip from one of Trivium’s live concerts and somebody was throwing stuff at them. At it was pretty bad.

In USA, in my country..in the whole world (almost) there will always be "wars" about nu metal. For people who listen metal more ocassionaly nu metal is the sh*t..as for the others who are "weekend listeners" nu metal will be fine.

For me, i started with nu metal cuz it was like an opening to other styles of metal. Right now all this bands we are mentioning suck to me (except several ones I mentioned before) they are weak, without anything that'll keep me listening them over again. Lots of numetal songs are easy to catch, and easy to get bored with...

I cannot understand one thing..you say in america numetal and metalcore are often labeled as "false metal"..how come? America "brought" 90% of those genres. And its very succesfull considering by looking at the concerts in America tours. Sold out very ofter. Or am I stupid?

Exactly. That's how it was for me.

What I'm saying is the hardcore metalhead hates it because it's weak. The teenyboppers love it because it's all they know. But to someone who listens to extreme metal, nu metal/metalcore is viewed as crap. I would think because to the mainstream populus that's all they think metal is. It makes metal look bad at least to them.
