i like shinoda fms' translation but i don't think its fully on point.

its not a time line. its just a mash up of what fuels the doomsday clock.

the clock is represented through the gears and if u notice in the song itself i guess the hit-hat or what ever u wanna call it has a constant tap like a watch clock. its one of the last instruments with the drums at the end of the songs. it mimics a clock.

the video just points out things like racism, equality, tyranny, war, gluttony, starvation, refuge ect. it merely displays them in a manner of that those are thing things that fuel the clock. and that in the end (with the big boom) thats what will end us. aka that huge bomb cloud. I think the fact of the video clip placement being symbolic isn't really so much a case. i think it just matches with the song. if its a real dramatic in the song like when everyone jumps in the air they just use that because it matches the emotion currently being emitted.

 

in my opinion the video clips are more mashed up than put in strategic places for story telling. there are parts like the baby to adult part that are symbolic, or the grass growing. but over all i think its more of an over cap.

 

its trying to show us that what ive done is more like what weve done.and that its time we face ourselves and make amends for the pain/distraught we've caused the world as a whole.
