Breakdown Conspiracy Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Ok heres my opinion. Yes, Lp have finally made a political song. Personally I dont think its their style, but it good they have tried something new. But to me this one is different. Instead of saying America is fucked, Bush sux etc.... Mike considers all side of the stories, eg: "At times like this you pray, But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday." Considering how the people in Iraq, Iran, and those war torn countries feel. And when I comes to bush, well, what I got out of it was that mike points out that he has made mistake in the first bridge: "For a leader so nervous in unobvious ways, Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay and the rest of the world watching at the end of the day in the living room laughing like what did he say?, but as the song get nearer to close he points out that bush is just like the civilians at home, and he is just a normal person too, and has emotions, he gets angry, and gets scared, just like a normal person, eg:"Meanwhile, the leader just talks away Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay and the rest of the world watching at the end of the day both scared and angry like what did he say?" Anyways that my deal on LP's 1st political song =D Quote .no
The Flashing Fish Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 That's an interesting view. I"m actually listening to it again to see where you're drawing the conclusions (especially Bush). I think the first part of the song is really questioning the decision to go to war. The second part of the song puts the war into a different perspective. Instead of from the view of the citizen, I think it's from the view of the soldiers and focusing on their hardship. I think the line, "When the rich wage war it's the poor that suffer" basically sums up the song. I think he is doubting the President's ability, especially when he says at the end, "both scared and angry like what did he say." I, however, do support the war, but I think it's a great song, as it does put the perspective of the soldier into view. But that's just my opinion. Also, No More Sorrow is political as well and The Little Things Give You Away is about Hurricane Katrina (or I suspect it anyway), but I wouldn't really classify it as political. Quote
Acezorz Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Hands Held High is my favourite song on the album, and yeah I see what you mean about the song, its good that the band have taken a political stand. Quote

Jeezy Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Yeah man..I think it's one of the best tracks on the album...it has really great lyrics can anyone say me what they actually mean with this? "With hands held high until the skies are blue as the ocean opens up to swallow you" I love that part...but what is it actually about?...could also be Hurricane Katrina related Quote

It would seem rather out of place if it was about Hurricane Katrina. Quote
FireHawk Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Yes it is an odd line when it comes to what does it mean, it seems as it refers to the ocean but it could be metaphorical some how. Either way HHH is one of best songs on album...
