their new stuff is good in portions...not all of it is to my liking...it just sounds like theyre trying to knock U2 off their perch rather than making music which is more suited to them and for the fans...a better mix of high powered older stuff and the soft-core stuff woulda been better...maybe even MORE songs rather than the 12 they put on for us. for me it was both VERY VERY soft and lacking intensity AND was felt even shorter in length...maybe its cause i just skipped liike every 2nd track...cause it was that bad

Yeah it lacked intensity was my biggest problem with it...LP I have always listened to for intensity...

See this is what gets me. They're not making music for the fans. Or at least they shouldn't be. They're making music for themselves. Music that suits them, music that they like. I don't see why the fans options should even matter. If I was them I wouldn't even care who my fans were as long as I'm making music that I like, because in the end that's all that really matters.

Good Point! And yes that is so true in many ways... they do make the music for them selfs and just hope that the fans will like it.. That's all you can do. :thumbsup:

When your changing styles sometimes it's necessary to get cold and uncaring about your previous fanbase because a lot of them become disgruntled and pissed off that your different now. I remember when Dir en grey released VULGAR and Withering to Death people were writing them death threats and saying they should disband. They even said to fans of their old stuff if you don't like our new stuff don't come to our concerts and don't look for us to play our old stuff either. I'm not saying Linkin Park will go this far but sometimes it's necessary when fans take it too far. I mean if I was Linkin Park I wouild be pissed off with the "fans" too.

I'm not saying Linkin Park will go this far but sometimes it's necessary when fans take it too far. I mean if I was Linkin Park I wouild be pissed off with the "fans" too.

 

I agree, well not really about LP being mean to the fans, but rather that I think the fans (some of them) are taking it too far. I like how they sound....and it sounds better when they love what they are doing and not doing it for the sake of doing it or for the fans (even the fans have varied tastes).

Yup I agree with whatever you guys just said in the last fifteen posts. Music is personal, and it's something you should be making for your own desire. I mean if the fans don't like them, well it's their problems. I think mainly a lot of the fans are complaining because they don't realize that LP isn't going to take back MTM and change it for them just because they don't like it. They don't live, breath, nor make music for the fans. I mean if you don't like it, then, okay. If you HATE it so much, just try to understand that nothing's going to change. Besides, change means a new wave of fans will come, replacing the ones who cannot stand MTM's sound. Everything happens in cycles, and so does the LP fanbase.

I totally agree (you probably read what I said above XD)

About the new wave of fans, its like very true....my friend who did not really like their previous sound is now very captivated with what i've done, she gushes it more than me *LOL*

Also its not like LP is telling their fans that they have to like every single album/song they make....if the fans don't like then don't buy. No one is forcing them....XD
