evulture Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Nearly 7-8 years ago, a different kind of genre was born which combined metal, rap, electronica together to form Hybrid Theory ... which later became LINKIN PARK ... now after hearing their new album Minutes To Midnight, can we conclude that the Hybrid Theory (Linkin Park) is dead and have transformed into something mainstream music?? If you think about it, It took them ages to find a record label willing to accept them etc... So I think Hybrid Theory wont ever be forgotten considering It's what made them who they are now! Quote
GraDoN Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 well i donno i HT is dead cause ill never stop listening to it as far as MTM will go.. let time tell Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/095443c5f5914cdd05b1d389456c201e.jpg http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/8df3638f80a4f010e06ef2c959f426e8.gif http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/fe80ab99471398f0ef121d8f90c31038.jpg
Part Of Me Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I think there's some truth there. As much as I love MTM, it lacks the ground-breaking new material of HT, which was probably one of the things I liked most about LP. Thing is, no one besides their fans (us) wants another Hybrid Theory. Music has moved on. Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/06852ec5a10e58d2d2ff5501fa70d41f.jpg
Person Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 There wont be another Hybrid Theory Linkin Park CD. Period. They've moved on musically and probably don't intend on looking back. *nods* Quote

They've always been mainstream music where you have been? O.o I wouldn't consider Linkin Park ground breaking just extremely popular. Rap Rock has been done before, see "Beastie Boys." Nu Metal was already pop cultures newest "thing" due to the sucess of KoRn, Limp Bitzkit and the like. Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/419f660d5f873320ab8475e194977ce5.gif

DarknessLover Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Ah, you see, I like so much music, that really I didn't care what I got from Linkin Park, since I love everything really. So it was just Linkin Park's voice, with another person's feel. I always considered HT and Meteora as written by Hybrid Theory (LP's Original Name) and now I feel that this new album Minutes to Midnight IS Linkin Park. Quote The Park is Back? No way!

Cant stand that genre in music.. Imagen if Linkin Park were country you guys... now that's just scary... lol But like I said.. Hybrid Theory will always represent Linkin Park and how they became what they are now. Quote
LPShinodaFM Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I wouldn't think that Hybrid Theory style would die. It would live on in the fans hearts. Well, some. To the others, the past is dead, LP reborn themselves. But I think Hybrid Theory was an amazing CD. It signified their astounding beginning to their career, and remind us what Linkin Park used to be. I mean if you think about the past, before they became famous, they were just normal guys. They have a lot of issues in their lives and if you read about some of their stories in the past it's really kind of unbelievable. Just because a new album comes out, however epic it might be, does not mean we should forget about what LP used to be. $0.02 Quote
Victim Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Please don't tell me you like country?!! lol.. Cant stand that genre in music.. There is nothing wrong with country music. :-P, I happen to like it. Anyways, It can't be dead, because I image that they will play old songs on their concerts, and I still listen to it.. But, LIke someone else said, I don't image them doing another cd like HT. Country is pretty cool,so noone make fun of it! I belive that LP isn't going to make another CD in that same style, but will always incorperate elments of the old rap/rock into their future albums. Weiman Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Well, as Dave said in the "Making of MTM" on the DVD, this apparently is "Linkin Park at their best". Also, Chester mentioned that the doomsday clock idea represents how much they've changed since the hybrid theory days. So, don't count on them reverting back to a genre that has since been jumped on for six years by a bunch of amateur bands who believe that they have potential... Names are excluded. JMHO btw. Don't trample me for this. Quote [broken External Image]:http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4642/firstindentsigcopyjx4.gif There are only two rules for success: 1) Never tell everything you know. 2)

evulture Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 LP 'is' mainstream, there is NO doubt in that ... but the pillars (rap, rock, metal, electronica) from which HYBRID THEORY (hybrid of different styles) was constructed, they are no more !! .. that's what i meant to say ... cuz they r now like normal ROCK (POP?) Bands which we have today !! Quote
HaziLPTonz Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 well we ll see....im hoping that when they do another album in...3-4 years, that they COMBINE works that are considered HT.meteora and stuff considered MTM, cause i think that would REALLY give the album a real balance to it, a strong mix of power and melody, i think for me, what lacked in MTM was a little bit of mikes OLD rapping and joe, cause other than that it was a pretty good album. i think LP need time to find themselves, im sure they ll find the perfect balance and sell more and more albums Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/ddd296f8f90eca79dbafae096b6d28b3.jpg

Peterdea Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 There new stuff is rubbish prefred to hyrbrid theory, but linkin park just rocks altogether. 1) Your kinda right 2) One thing that makes new LP better is that Mike sings aswel as raps! 3) Yes your kinda right Quote Its good to be back.
LP_Chester-wanna-be Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 No it's not dead...I got to CD stores and see it being bought all the time. Plus I got to friends houses and see them downloading the whole CD off Itunes. That CD is the CD that will never die. Quote sasafraz!
