LPF Awards? Yes or No?

Ugh, I know it creates a problem every year, but I wanted to you what you guys thought about trying one this year.. It is something we have done every year, and it is something I would like to see this year. Normally preperations begin way earlier in the year, but I figured, if we did decided to do it, I would as all of you (The Elites) to help me out. The reason why I am coming to you guys is because I think asking a select group memebers who can be trusted for their input will help smooth this even out alittle bit more.. But just tell me what you think, and if the majority thinks its a bad idea, well then I will ask this same question next year and see if anything has changed, but if the majority feels the way I feel, then we will take the first steps in to getting this thing started.

I think yes, because the forums seem alot more stable and less volatile then they where in previous years.

I think the problem last year was it came at a very hostile time on the forums. If I remember right it was just after the LPF chat room thing that made a lot of people mad. Like Stenners said right now LPF is stable and can handle it.

My vote is for yes, but only if we can keep it under control. Last year was tough because some members was very um, mad, about not getting voted for ect... but i think this year would be better because we have some very active members and i haven't seen any flaming by anyone lately, so maybe that's a sign that we should do the awards again. :thumbsup: Go for it!

I also think it would be nice to have the awards again....I have just experienced one LPF award event....which was last year...and well, we all know what happened.

 

I'd really like to see the LPF awards coming back for good.

Stenners is right, the forums are very stable right now. So why ruin it? People are undoubtedly going to complain about the awards no matter how you go about doing it, and last year's events actually hurt the forums a lot.

 

However, whatever you guys choose to do I will support, and if you do go through with the awards I'll be happy to help in whatever way I can.

LPF lacks any social intergration right now, a forum collective or sorts would help re-create the social interwinding of old where everyone had a story with another member, which may be weird but helped keep the forums alot more vibrant and fresh.... whilst currently though active the forums currently seem to be missing something.

Last year wasn't the only bad year.. Every LPFA I have been here for has been a disaster.

Im 50/50 on my decision.

 

The LPF awards were fun a few years ago, but they went really down hill last time.

I believe the main reason was because the awards only really include a close-knit group of people. Because of this a lot of people were offended/annoyed that they weren't included for nominations.

 

I think the awards should be re-done this year. Brand new categories for nominations. Fun, original categories, that wont offend/upset people.

 

I also think that nominations should be extremely well thought through. I'm not saying no effort was put into past awards, because I know there was a lot put in, but I don't believe the nomination lists included everyone who should have been nominated.

 

What if the nominations were done in two stages?

Firstly, the Elites/Mods/Admins create a list of nominees.

We then create a thread with the list of nominees and their categories. LPF members can view this list, and if they believe someone who deserves to be nominated was missed out, they can be voted in.

 

Once a final list is done, we can let the voting begin.

 

I dunno, just throwing ideas.

Actually I was planning on doing something like that.. Since the catagories were a factor in last year's problems, I was gunna ask for people's inputs on what new ones they would like to see and if, any at all, which old ones would they like to see back this year

Yeah I agree with the fact that the catagories weren't really appropriate, and I also think the people who got nominated for them may not have been the most deserving people, just the most popular. That was my interpretation anyway.
