BlackHeart Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 found this on CBO  (PR) Music For Relief has selected two of America’s most reputable philanthropic organizations to work with, Habitat for Humanity and American Forests, Linkin Park announced today. To further its mission of providing aid to victims of natural disasters, Music For Relief will support Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing efforts to build simple, decent housing with low-income families affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on the Gulf Coast. Music For Relief has also pledged to donate $1 of every ticket to Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution tour to American Forests to plant trees. Each dollar donated plants one tree. Established in 2005 by Linkin Park in response to the Southeast Asian Tsunami, Music For Relief was founded with the goal of bringing the music community together to provide aid to victims of natural disasters. Furthering that initial goal, they have expanded their mission to include educating the public on global warming and working to reduce greenhouse gasses. “We are excited to work with Habitat for Humanity and American Forests,” says Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, “there is a lot more that we would like to accomplish and we are proud to team up with these amazing organizations.” The concept of Music for Relief originated amongst the members of Linkin Park with the goal that if they could pool together their resources and encourage music-industry professionals, peers and fans to join the cause, they could make a direct impact in assisting relief efforts. Since 2005, Music For Relief has raised more than $2 million for victims of the Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, with current efforts concentrated on rebuilding the U.S. Gulf Coast and helping to prevent future natural disasters by reducing greenhouse gasses. from: http://www.antimusic.com/news/07/june/0808.shtml Quote And the sun will set for you The sun will set for you And the shadow of the day Will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you

Cyro Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Hope they do another concert like the amazing one they did back in 05. Maybe someone will record and release it if they actually did. Anyway, I agree that Global Warming has to be addressed, so this is good. LPShinodaFM Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Once you get up there, a lot of people just forget about the others. Still able to show compassion for the rest of the world shows the quality of people you are. Quote
Breakdown Conspiracy Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Its all good that they're doing all this, I respect LP more, but it seems that all celebs are trying to be "do gooders". Quote .no
LPShinodaFM Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Well one side to it is that they are looked up to, and they have to set examples as role models. lol, but the other side is just the fact that they are now at such a privileged level they don't want to forget about the other human beings on earth. We are still composed of the same organic matter as one another, and therefore compassion and charity should be given to those ones in need. Quote
DarknessLover Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I like to see when people are actually noticing the good deeds, it's such a rare thing nowadays. Everyone is so caught up in themselves taht they fail to realise others well being. LP is not caught in themselves apparently, and notice that there is a major problem that must be adressed for that, I cheer LP on for such a good doing! Quote The Park is Back? No way!

The way I look at it is, who cares. The more bands that try to be "do-gooders" the more relief the world gets. So let them all try, hahaha.
