_deemy_ Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I have a friend who wants me to burn him a CD with metal tracks on it to try and get him into the genre. I've been looking through my collection and can't really find any 'beginner' metal to put on it. I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me. I'm looking for metal songs that aren't overly heavy, and nothing screamo. Also length is a concern because he has a rather short attention span lol. If anyone has any suggestions for songs that would be nice, especially the people from the Album Review thread. Friðbjörn Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 lol I think someone like Yackie is more suited for that than say, me Matt Toxic and Jeezy a guy that actually listens a lot to metal. but I mean...you could try playing him the shorter Megadeth songs. I was gonna suggest old Metallica, but they're mostly too long for your friend I guess... get the metalheads on here though, I haven't gotten that much into metal, yet. Vash_the_Stampede Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Going more in depth with the Japanese thing like xXMelancholiaXx's list, throw in some Sex Machineguns, Girugameshu, NIGHTMARE, Phantasmagoria, D'espairsRay, or X Japan. Quote Good bye, auf wiedersehen, adiós, sayonara Gone
waiting4thesun Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 i'm gonna agree with most of what's on xXMelancholiaXx's list, those are mostly good "beginner" metal songs, as you put it. try to get your friend in to Opeth too, it's really good progressive death metal, with breaks of acoustic beautifulness. I don't listen to too much Japanese Metal. I just recommended a Dir en grey song because they're the best and most accessable one I know of. I've heard of some of the bands you listed some I have listened to and some I haven't. From the bands I've heard these are the songs I'd recommend on the list. D'espairs Ray - Born X- Japan - Silent Jealousy, Dahlia, Art of Life Phantasmagoria - Incomplete and Guilt, Pixey False another good Japanese band is SADS. Well, for D'espairs, I would recommend anything from MIRROR Sex Machineguns: Aijin28, HUNGRY EYES, panda chan, Iron Cross, ONIGUNSHOW Girugameshu: Volcano, Zero, Goku, or anything from 13's Reborn NIGHTMARE: anything from Anima or Ultimate Circus Going more in to Dir en grey: anything from Vulgar, Withering to Death, or Marrow of a Bone, Filth, Mitsu no Batsu, Mask Quote Good bye, auf wiedersehen, adiós, sayonara Gone

Hybrid Soldier Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Gotta start with some led zepp, sabbath, and metallica of course. Then try some stuff more like slayer, hatebreed, and trivium. IF you stay within those bands, you cant go wrong. Quote
