Breakdown Conspiracy Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 3 chords and "I hate my life" sounds like Korn lol not metal Or that LOL Quote .no
Yackiestinger Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 in my opinion music is music. Even in metal there are people with just the same amount of talent as in rap. Eg: I'd say slayer. Good music or a good band/rapper/artist comes from how they view music and how they appreciate it. Because you cant say much from a rapper who constantly raps about "drugz n biatches" is a good artist, neither can you when a metal band plays three chord and a song screaming "fuck my life! I hate you all go to fucking hell!" So in my view it depends on the appreciation of music. Fella..you are wrong... "fuck my life! I hate you all go to fucking hell!" and 3 lifeless chords is numetal, and nirvana alike shit. Read the lyrics of real metal. It's often abstractive, astrologic, about life and death, etc. If you listen to simple plan you'll hear that text above..hehehe ofcourse there are plenty of metal shit such as craddle of filth, dimmu borgir, slipknot, trivium etc but you can't help it, and you can't generaly say that all (name it)core is crap. It's ovbious that you don't listen that much metal music Quote [broken External Image]:http://kropla.com/images/croatia_flag.gif Myspace account...yeah, les-be friends :-P
azemkamikaze03 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Sounds bad? So I can say that rap is just poor excuse for "music" for those who can't sing, just recitating some text about cars, bitchez with big boobs, wannabe gangsta wanksta shit?? But I won't say that cuz I'm not narrowminded, and I listen to old school rap which is really cool! Nowadays, rap is dead. Metal is rising. Flow in rap generally sucks major ass. Only a few exceptions. Well the way I see it is that rap is more appreciated for its cars, misogyny, wannabe gangsta wanksta(lol) shitthan metal(which isnt rising if anything its stuck in standstill.) Either way rap still has more lyrical variety than (__insert random trend__)core. Which if rap is dead, is very embarrassing. I decided to look into some of these bands to at least get an idea of their lyrical styles. Because maybe, I figured, I was wrong and I need proof. Beneath The Massacre Mechanics Of Dysfunction[2007] The Surface This is the sound of human waste. Worshiping the new leaders of destruction. Spilling blood... No more: Pain nor hope. We don't care, the end is near. It's falling down. This is life, this is pain. This is real, this is hell. This path leads us nowhere yet we keep following. This path leads us to what we always have feared. This path leads us to this world's fatal destiny. This is the path that'll end it all by tomorrow. The sound of human waste. Can't you hear the voices of a thousand victim: The new world order makes no compromise. Spilling blood... No more: Pain nor hope. We don't care. The end is near. It's falling down. Breeding murder. If anything metal is dead. Well actually it is. There is a few bands that do some goodness and I like them, but overall this whole core thing. i obviously dont listen to much of this core shit becuase that's all im getting. and if is going good then i get things with ear shattering screams. bands like craddle of filth, dimmu borgir, slipknot, trivium are supposed to be the basic idea of what the genre is. they are who made it and who is the most popular. so ill give it to you not all (blah)core is bad but most of it is. in rap you can easily find more lyrical diversity than you can in these genres. i mean sure some of their metaphors or rhetorical devices are used very well, but I mean if I wanted things to be the same, I'd be boycotting the producers of Casino Royale. Yackiestinger Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 It was enough from you to mention me 50 cent and Nas. They need to be shot in the head for ruining rap scene. you should actualy listen to real hip hop and rap, so we can talk further. EDIT: I'm not bashing whole rap I listen to: -Grandmaster flash -Run DMC -Public enemy -Naughty by nature -KRS one -Cypress hill -Alley life -Styles of beyond -Del the funky homosapien -Jurassic 5 etc etc but bashing whole metal genre is something that brainless kid would do. The diference is if you don't like it. and metal is not dead. There's a thousand sites full of metal music, a few channels on satellite. The crisis called numetal is almost dead. But they are the ones they have done that are actual songs, and not just senceless babling. EDIT: I also do like some Dragonforce, mainly because they are fucken mint players! EDIT2: I also listen to Seether, Disturbed, Blindspott, and Breaking Benjamin. If they count. Quote .no

The diference is if you don't like it. and metal is not dead. There's a thousand sites full of metal music, a few channels on satellite. The crisis called numetal is almost dead. Get it straight I said mainstream so um yea. I do listen to real rap. Nas by the way is definitely not anywhere even close to ruining any rap scene. Cuz I mean Mf Doom Juelz Santana Apathy Celph Titled Lupe Fiasco Immortal Technique Mos Def A Tribe Called Quest N.W.A WuTang Jay Z Method Man Pharoahe Monch The Fugees Talib Kweli Common Canibus Eminem RZA Matisyahu are really not real rap. I mean I listen to them and have them listed under [Hip Hop/Rap] in my Ipod, but in reality it's not real rap. But I guess you are missing the obviously blunt point of me showing you those lyrics. Rather than picking out metal's most known artists, I attempted from my knowledge to pick out their lesser. I then skimmed through each lyrics to see, if they were different and about a couple of bands were. The rest from my sight weren't. Now obviously LPF has a limit as to how much I can type in this small box. So again, I went ahead and picked out the names of bands(of the suffix -core genre) that were mentioned by those who like it so well and surfed through their lyrics. Still, I got nothing. So I, being the dick I so love being, decided to add salt to the wounds I was about to so diligently rip open on this subject. 50 Cent. Curtis Jackson. Probably the worst rapper after Mike Jones was my arguing point. He raps about 12 things. Drugs, Sex, Getting Shot, Never Changing, Being a Hood Rat, How Rappers Want To Be Like Him, How He is Paid, Cars, He's a Boss, How Grimy Other African-Americans Can Be, The Rap Game, and The Game. I'm sure I am missing a few other things. Now, take that 12 and look at the Core variety. Failed Love, Political Corruption, Damnation, Drugs, Not Giving a Fuck. That is about it. Obviously there are endless bands out there and I am not going to spend the rest of my life trying to find the two bands that are different. I guess in the end I could care less if they scream or not but they fit themselves into the cookie cutter stereotype of what rock is. If you ask a hip hop enthusiast what rock is, they'll probably say it's a bunch of wielding guitars and screaming white boys. And with the massive amounts of these core bands springing up it doesn't help get rid of this cliche. Of course every genre including my favored rap/hip hop has it. But the amount of rock bands exceeds the amount of hip hop. Sure some rappers use Ghost writers, but overall the majority of rappers put the words together themselves which is equally as important, and can contain just as beautiful as a message as rock. Hip Hop is always expanding and making itself more relate able to people as a whole. To me it feels as though rock is being pushed away and being less and less relatable. It's a shame. That's why the metal genre is falling apart. It used to be a lot more popular and people know that. But it is alienating itself from the general public sticking to just a certain group. Like I said rap is expanding and becoming more relatable to everyone. Lol, Lupe Fiasco said once "I am white people's Kool-Aid." Rap is far from dead. The goodness is more visible than rocks. Show me a good few metalcore bands with actual variety in their tracks and maybe I'll buy into your stuff. I'm not bashing the whole metal scene. Just the majority of it. Quote ¿whysoserious?
Hybrid Soldier Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 wow. um, i listend to about 5 songs from that genre and if anything they are mainstream see if it ends in core its probably shit. cept for some hard core. screaming is not music. at least in rap their flow has some sense of melody/harmony whatever u wanna call it. in (__insert highschool subject__)core it can either be lots of screaming, just really weird sounds or random crap that is supposed to be original but overall sounds bad. Personally, I enjoy alot of the music you do. So I cant use a cliche phrase such as "well, you know what, I hate your music too". However, I can say that I, unlike you, am open minded about music, and that I didnt ask who hated hardcore, I asked who liked it. Oh, and I really(no sarcasm), commend you for picking out two bands I mentioned as examples, but please don't compare my favorites to 50 cent, I like rap and all, but not him. Quote
diana Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 ... whatever ... I never knew anything about different labels and stuff...never really cared about them cuz there are way too many...it's shitty, if you ask me... However, sometimes it feels so good to listen to some hc/mc stuff...at some local concerts or something...in that way I love it... In general, I listen to whatever I like...doesn't matter how it's labeled... Oh, and guys...why do you always have to argue? lol... littleblackstone Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I'm just sick of those labels. There's like thousands of them. This list we made is not even 5% of it. It will be like every band will have their own unique label. Once it was only metal or rock.... you're absolutely right!! that's why i never say which is my fav music genre cause there are billions of thousands of them, and i'm into a lot of them.. and actually, i dont give a fuck to it!
