ripping images and making gifs off music videos

yer, i know alot of people have sigs and avatars that have portions from music videos, and i was wondering how do i also do this? is there a program i need?

 

and you know how LPA and stuff hae the music caps of music videos(like single still shots from music videos), i was wondering how to get them also, i cant just print screen when im watching cause my comps dodgy enough as it is

 

any help is appreciated! sorry if its in the wrong section...i honestly didnt know where to park this thread!

well if you do it with ImageReady you have to download the video in .mov format and than open it, choose the part of the video you want as gif and then delete the rest... something like that...

also the screen caps from music vids, not just the LP ones, i wanna be able to take screencaps from any video, im sure it can be done, just not sure how, maybe i worded it wrong in goggle search or something

In WMP, set your Video Performance to NONE.

If you do that, you can now use Print Screen to take screenshots of your video.

 

Alternatively, you can use VLC and take screenshots.

hmmm i tried the print screen thingy with the video performance, i spose itd normally work, but my comp is dodgy, print screen doesnt work...or...perhaps, where would ur print screens be located? and last time i used it, it wasnt in any viewable format, how do i change the format of the printe screen image? maybe its just me, but i encountered that problem awhile ago

 

maybe give the VLC thing a go, makes sense and is a tad easier as i wouldnt hafta do any editing.

You have to paste the image into paint or a similiar program for editing, unless it's pasted I don't believe it is saved anywhere in paticular on your PC. After you click the print screen button open up paint or another similiar program and select edit and then the paste button, it won't be in a paticular format until you save it as a format (.jpg, .gif, etc.).
