Toxic1 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 "Bottled off" The 'tradition' of unpopular bands being bottled off (being forced off stage by a barrage of audience-thrown plastic bottles, sometimes filled with urine) has continued; famously, Daphne and Celeste suffered this ignominy in 2000. Good Charlotte experienced it in 2003, but remained on-stage and encouraged the crowd to throw more. In 2004, The Rasmus were bottled off at Reading, as was 50 Cent (with urine, fireworks, mud, pieces of furniture and generally anything people could throw--even a children's paddling pool) in Reading only. Some question the wisdom of organisers placing 50 Cent, a rap/urban act, in between Placebo and Green Day, both rock acts (although other rap acts including The Streets, The Roots and Jurassic 5 played earlier in the day with little or no incident, suggesting it was more to do with the quality of 50 Cent's music rather than Rap/Hip-hop not being accepted by the Reading crowd). 50 Cent lasted nearly 20 minutes at Reading, before throwing his microphone into the crowd in anger after a deck chair was thrown on-stage. In 2005, Fightstar, despite suffering a barrage themselves, remained playing throughout their entire set as the audience's bottle supply was quickly exhausted. This has given the band, featuring Charlie Simpson, an ex-member of pop group Busted, a strike of admiration and praise for being able to remain on-stage throughout the incident. In 2006 at Reading, Panic! at the Disco lead singer Brendon Urie was knocked down from a hit by a water bottle thrown from the crowd, causing the band to stop for 3 minutes while he received medical attention, before continuing to play the whole of the set with no more bottles directly hitting them. Despite this, the band played their set at Leeds the following day with no incident (aside from a thank you and praise for being a better crowd)[citation needed]. My Chemical Romance also suffered a barrage of bottles in 2006, but completed their set, encouraging the crowd to boo, hiss and throw more. Aiden were famously bottled at the Reading Festival 2006, and singer Will Francis made it considerably worse by shouting "Let's see what you got, you fucking pussies!" meaning they were bottled with urine filled bottles from then on. The controversial decision by organisers to let 50 Cent play the previous year and the chaos that ensued as a result of that decision did not put the organisers off from inviting other self-confessed hip hop/rap artists such as Lethal Bizzle to play on the Carling stage, and Dizzee Rascal to play a set as second headliner on the NME/Radio One stage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading_and_Leeds_Festivals Quote

azemkamikaze03 Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Azem, true pure walkin knowledge!!!! :sarcasm: If I would met you in the face I would kick your sorry ass for talking about something you don't know...or have a clue. First off, that was highly mature of you. Let me say this, now that I am aware that my lack of knowledge may have forced me into the cross hairs of your rage and fury I'll make sure I stay out of the way when it comes to talking about music. Second off, it's guaranteed that if you even took the time to tell me you would kick my ass over an internet forums chances are you wouldn't do it. And even lets say you went ahead and did fight me you'd be the biggest douche in history. Why? One because some random 16 year old kid got the best of you OVER THE INTERNET, two because of all things to fight for your fighting about music genres, and three you actually took offense to something as little as that! I mean Jesus Christ did I hurt your feelings that bad? Are you going to cry? I can order you some tissues off eBay if you'd like. Lol anyways grow up bud. If you wanna sound tough use dry sarcasm and college level vocabulary. It'll work wonders for you man. Anyways, lol back to music... I just can't believe how somebody is narrowminded and uneducated about a whole genre. Well, I won't bother explaining term "metal" to you because it's useless ever since #1 you put goth into metal...lol..I'm laughing hard!! N00b. Goth is gay, pop or whatever..that's not a real metal..it's shit. Noob? Forgive me deary. I could have sworn I acknowledged earlier that the two genres were indeed different but shared similarities. I mean I don't ever remember in this thread having stated that Goth = Metal/Heavy Metal. I might have said Metal/Goth but I was merely using that as a shortcut instead of saying "or." And the bold statement was a very narrow minded one by the way. #2You connect heavy metal to depression...so Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. are writing depressing lyrics...you didn't hear any of those songs or you never read the lyrics. Those are epic compared to shit you listen. Ok look. How old are you? 21? Your acting like your 13, and it's ashame that I have to be the one to burst your bubble. If lyrics are depressing, well guess what? They are depressing! They could written by God himself, but if they are sad they are going to stay sad. I do listen to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Also Queen, Deep Purple, Zepplin, and so many more. Unfortunately, theres a problem. See...the thread creator when he or she said meatal (heavy) they meant the whole thing. From Zeppelin to Slipknot. So I am guessing if we sifted through all the thrash, black, power, progressive, doom, goth and death metal we probably find more depressing sad lonely lyrics than we would joyus happy ones. Isn't that weird? #3Metal band are not surrounded by big boobs brainless bitchez in videos and they are not carrying desert eagle with themselves and they don't kill each other just because one of them looked wrong at another one. So let me get this straight...your going to tell me I'm wrong by contradicting yourself? Your being just as narrow minded as you claim me to be you moron. And if you read anything I wrote earlier you'd see that I said the same thing about rap. Given I didn't elaborate on it because the topic was about metal and rock. But, still I said the majority of rap glorifies a carefree life. I never said that was good. #4Metal..except brutal death, in other subgenres there are a lot of melodies, and people can sing actually, rappers can't. Now tell me this. Because this fourth point. This last legit real point. Your last opportunity to really stick it to me. Your last shot at really letting me know who's boss. It makes no sense. What does singing have to do with the arguement? Your like a politician. Lol your using statements that have nothing to do with this case just to make me look bad. The point of my whole damn argument is that music can help trigger a depressive state. That it's earned it's stereotypes just as has every other genre. Stenners is right music isn't the sole key that makes a kid go crazy and murder people. It's just a factor that can help push. If your a disturbed child as it is, listening to Marilyn Manson or an old tarnished copy of Cheater from Rocka Rolla it's not really going to help. Let me retread my earlier statements as well to clear some murky waters with Fribs. All I am saying is that if your musical heart lies in a darker genre such as metal... the world around will appear more darker. Music is an important factor in a teenagers life and if that teen is listening to dark music than their outlook will be more grim. Just keep in mind I'm not saying that just because you listen to metal you will become a crazy serial killer. It doesn't make you become anything it just changes your mood which is a factor that determines your actions. And the same is for Rap and Hip Hop. If you listen to a lot of that you'll probably be more independent and less sad, but also more cold. (I'm talking basic rap not MF DOOM and MS) You might be a little more tempered and willing to fight "the man." It's obvious I'm sure you guys see it at school. The and I hate to put it like this but the Black kids tend to be more proud and independent. People like principals and teachers don't intimidate them as much. (At least here in America.) It's all from that mentality the music supplies. Sorry if that last paragraph was a little weird. I got my pupils dialated and it's still hard to see. I have the browser font all the way up to max, so it's hard to think and decipher what I'm typing at the same time. Quote ¿whysoserious?

HaziLPTonz Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 "doesnt matter if ur black white or pink", now thas a sweet use of witty play on words! lots of wierd shit gets thrown on stage, being bottled isnt such a big deal i spose, some badns wear it as a badge of honor, and those that survive do tend to earn some respect, even if their music doesnt get any better ahaha, i believe brendan from patd got hit on one side of his face, got up after being dazed and yelled at the crowd to see if he could the other side of his face or something, mind you, the way they were playing some of their traks that day, they did deserve to get hit 50c...ahahaha, he wasnt bottled, he had a fucking CHAIR thrown at him...jesus thas one hell of a throw...xD sweet ahaha i ll agree with azem on his post against yackie, he makes valid points, rather than acting like a pouting brat who isnt getting his own way, in anycase, its azems own point of view as to how he sees the genre, like people here see many bands as emo even when they arent, or see country music as crap or a bunch of red neck yokels even when others will beg to differ Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/ddd296f8f90eca79dbafae096b6d28b3.jpg
Stenners Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Okay let me stereotype everything just to make everyone happy Metal - Grimmer outlook, self reflecting, self pitty, aggresive outlet however very expressive not very cold and heartfelt.... as a result of which less likely to lead to aggresive behaviour... other then at gigs but even then the are rules such as if a mans down pick em up. Rockers - A less grim and aggresive outlook on life tendency to be nostalgic and opinionated on almost everything, nothing that much emphesised in rock music cept to appear messey the least grooming and more organic of the bunch. Hip Hoppers - Very organised, street wise and whitty.... though tendency to be cold, not as self reflecting, short fused and politically correct. Punks - Aggresive, Doesn't giive a shit, tries to MAINTAIN a dirty look which makes them actually and rather ironically well groomed. The general I dont give a shit attitude is worn on the sleeve they are kind of the worst of all things mixed together.... not suicidal though and generally very bould at making statements... they put down a point they stick to it. Emos - Self Reflecting, Self Pittying and general over assesment of life everything in the Emo world has to be skinny! Often vegetarians or vegans and dont conform by actually conforming sort of like a modern day goth only more empethetic, these guys wont harm anything (except themselves). <3 = calling card of emo Ravers/Nu-Ravers- Constantly high on ecstacy, tendancy to bite off lips and loose memory. Have great fun and generally artifically happy they arent aggresive folk in fact due to the pills they are very loving and empathetic... awww ^_^ Also very colourful n neon if you have colourful skinny jeans then you are a nu-raver. Indie Sindy - Reads the NME shops at Topman/Topshop and generally acts opposites the girls love more boyish things yet like girly stuff the guys still love football (soccer) and video games but love shopping wear make up and over emphesise their femininty. They are essentally trying to be the group below but doing a rather lazy job of it! INDIE/Alternatives - Wear vintage or 'Indie' style clothing the opposites rule applies hear aswell, more often then not a more extreme level. The guys hug everyone they know + kiss every girl they know.... Girls REALLY get guy things. Also its essential to be ironic you must have a couple of cheesey tunes on your playlist and love the daftest things... cheese being popular. Often bum e-zines rather then Magazines popular ones being Stylus, PITCHFORK & Drowned In Sound I listen to a bit of everythingies - Undecided, confused, camellions who are fake and not to be trusted. Generally go with the charts and are therefor very easily influenced by peers and ad campaigns these are the people that you see queueing up for something thats been new and improved! Pop tarts - Generally pretty naive and simple they like to dance but nothing more really they are kind hearted deep down but are rather bitchy at the same time this can imply to guys too though its much rarer. Usiel Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 People always look at alto's or people who listen to metal as people who like the devil, it's just in their heads Yes, that's the stereotypes's consequences, and from my point of view, I think it's too sad: you cant lose the opportunity to meet something great just 'cos this person dresses with black clothes and many chains or 'cos this boys dresses with wide trousers and his way of expression is hip hop... I think all kind of stereotypes are useless. You cannot classify someone for his look, 'cos, obviously you cant be wrong. I've one example, quite nearly and very well known: me. If you look at me, you'll see a girl, quite posh, polite and shy (well, it's on depends of the moment). If you look at me, you'd say that the music I listen it's just... well, I dont know, maybe the Spice Girls and Backstreetboys ( be careful!! I'm not saying people who listen this kind of pop music are fool.. not!! I respect all kind of music. For me it doesnt matter if it's heavy metal or classical. I love both and If I'm honestly I cannot live without these types of music!!) but, the fact, is that my mp3 hasnt just only pop music. It has a variety of everthing: ACDC, LP, Eminem, Mozart, Guns'n Roses, Fort Minor, Queen, The Beatles, Lucie Silvas, The Corrs, Robbie Williams... It's very funny for me when I say to the people than one of my favourite band is ACDC. They're shocked. I think their mind cannot be more opened 'cos they can join a "posh" girl with 50 Cent or System of a Down... and I wonder WHY IS SO DIFFICULT:confused: ?? Cant they understand that since I was a kid I've been listening rock and heavy metal music? cant they understand that while my friends were listening Laura Pausini my dad and my uncles showed me Deep Purple and Metallica's vids?? 'Cos they're shocked when I tell them my music tastes... but can you imagine their faces when I show them the vid where my uncles are playing in their heavy metal band?? (you can see the vid 'cos I posted it here!!) I can understand you, and I totally agree with you about stereotypes but you dont know how much fun I get with these kind of close-minds!!  Quote [broken External Image]:http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/1977/luna640gp0.jpg ...oPeN yOuR mInD fOr A dIfFeReNt vIew'n NoThInG eLsE mAtTeRs...

It's not our problem if they live in a stereotyped world with a closed-minds (a sad reality btw, even more when we're living in the 21st century!!). I think all people who are surprised to meet girls or boys as we are, it's 'cos we break their mental buildings about stereotypes... how is it possible than a quiet girl loves Muse?? How a lively girl as you likes Funeral For A Friend??, they wonder such kind of question, and they dont guess the answer although it's very easy, just only one word: own personality... We're not robots, not clones; each person is a fantastic an unique universe of ideas, experiences, tastes that it's wonderful and useful to learn about each one... and what is the problem if I love the most heavy- metal music but I dont like to wear metal bracelets? Is there any rule about tastes? I dont think so, and if you know it, could you show me it, please?? Bah. nonsense... I want to live in a freedom world, not in a stereotyped world of rules!! And for this reason I shout so loud without being afraid of anything: LONG LIFE FOR ALL PEOPLE WITH OWN PERSONALITY!!! 1 Quote [broken External Image]:http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/1977/luna640gp0.jpg ...oPeN yOuR mInD fOr A dIfFeReNt vIew'n NoThInG eLsE mAtTeRs...
Clogz Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I personally laugh at the stereotype that all metal is 'evil' and 'satanic'. I personally do not listen to alot of metal because of all the anger (its not good for me)...but, I listen to ALOT of Christian metal. Which is why I laugh...because they haven't heard of Christian metal. Demon Hunter, Norma Jean, Underoath, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, Zao, Still Remains...just to name a few. And they are most certainly not satanic...or evil. So yeah, stereotyping music is always a bad, bad idea. because someone out there can shove that right back in your face.
