Also...Putin has called for massive increases in military spending, both offensive and defensive. They have also announced that they are adding six carriers to thier navy, which is weaker than the USA's but already the same size. Putin has called for a resurgence of Russia's glory days as a world superpower, and there has been likewise propaganda to encourage this.

So...some thoughts on this? I personally think Russia is trying to return to its former status as a world power. If that is true, what kind of an effect would that have on the global diplomatic climate?

How does Europe play into this...and China...and America?

 

Any thoughts on Russia's motives here?

Not to rain on your parade, but I knew all that already. And YES, I am ashamed that our government is responsible for so much pain and hurt in this world. People like to think that Americans are ignorant of what our government is doing around the world, but alot of us do understand.

 

We also understand that we can't change any of that. How can you take personal responsibility for something you never did? . I know our country has done alot of awful things, and that we are no better then any other country, but the only thing I can do as an American is vote for the people I hope will fix these problems and raise awareness about the corruption that needs to be stopped.

 

Frankly, if this thread really does offend you I'll have the mods take it down. I wasn't trying to make waves or start some shit...I just wanted to talk about these events.

Russia seems like they're trying to be "big and bad" and build their country back up. Seems like they want to have a counteraction for everything the US does. Hmm. And especially since they assassinated that spy, I got really suspicious of them....

I agree with that. We have no more power to change our situation in our own country than you do to change the situation in any other country.

 

As for Russia, they are probably just pissed and want to be recognized more as a major power in the world, thats what I believe. I don't think anything to serious is gonna happen. The US would've said something about Russia by now if they had a problem with what they are doing.

I'm not against the thread. I'm not against you personally.

But my opinion is that American politics are fucked up, excuse the language. Having only two parties with any influence, power, and money, both on the right wing, is not gonna come off good, as I believe we've seen. From what I've seen, you guys can either vote right wing, or extreme right wing. And no...democrats are not left wing, and they're just as bad as the republicans.

 

you might ask, is this any of my concern...well, when the states stop being the deciding power in the world, then it won't be my concern.

communism has come off as ill-rooted, or something, but the fact remains that we haven't seen pure communism. we've never seen real communism. in real communism, the government is so big that it includes us all. all we've seen in countries with communism is a strong government, so strong that it's fascism. and it certainly hasn't included everyone, and shared everything equally like what communism is all about.

 

I personally wouldn't choose to revolt, and make my state a communist one, but Marxism and socialism make the core of left-wing politics. the scandinavian model takes a lot from such theory, for example. big free market, but education and health care for everyone via tax.

on russia? hmmmm, nothing wrong with trying to re-establish itself, in a way it is a good thing, i mean they arent silly enough to go start WW3 or even form of conflict, yes theyre against the US, but then, so are other countries. i spose, looking at it one way, theyre flexing their muscle a lil bit cause they are against whats happening in NKorea, and if NKorea are going to start tesing weapons again(believe me,its kim jong il, he will), it wouldnt be too bad to have a strong armed mediator like russia, as long as the US doesnt butt into its business, thered be nothing wrong with having russia reestablish itself as long as it doesnt try to start conflicts

China is not considered a fully developed country yet so you can't even come close to comparing it to America. It has a stable and strong economy and is progressing well, but it as doing it at a much slower rate. It puts it on the map with countries like South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, India, etc.

 

However, China even though China has money their people don't. And that's where your mistaken. Since China is communist based, No one can be rich. Except of course the corrupt government officials who hold all the money. What is the point of being a rich nation if your people can't enjoy it?

 

Right now America's dollar is weak, but it has the potential to regain its power in the upcoming years. In fact the only country that really stands a chance of truly out valuing the American Dollar is China. American while in debt can gain back its money faster than most countries.

 

 

 

 

And where in the world did u get the idea that America was the poorest? Id like to see that article.
