ermm, right. So im guessing that all the people in your government probably have phds and master degrees in politics and economics, right..have they not learnt from history that this approach rarely works. well it may in iceland, dont know much about icelandic social attitudes towards politics..but england that would make thing so much worse.

degrees in various things actually. many are lawyers, some but not many are economists (the PM being one, which makes him one lousy economist since his regime is fucking up everything). but yeah, the finance minister is a veterinarian...go figure the economy's down the toilet. I've taken two economics classes and I'm already better than him

it's all political. in iceland the biggest party is the right wing party, that has both the conservatives and the libertarians, and it's a part that's been in power most of the last century and is basically corrupt and full of shit. everyone who's not in it, disagrees with it

sorry to keep on pestering about politics but i have some major interest in it. But you said that your party is mainly comprised of Conservatives and Libertarians, so does that make it similiar to the wave of neo-Conservatism which is sweeping england atm or have the two ideologys in iceland always been fused? it just seems like a odd combination to me..

nah, historically it's been right wing officially, but more conservative, since in iceland people have generally agreed to have the government run certain things, like healthcare, education, postal service, energy, telephone, and such

but lately there's been a neo-libertarian wave, mostly within the right wing party, which makes sense. but yeah it's also strange, it means that there are two wings in the party fighting for power

 

I'm voting yes. I voted in the last parliament election, last year. I voted for the only real leftist party. I'll probably vote for them again, if I don't hand the ballot in empty

so did you vote for what would fundamentaly be the socialist party? I would vote Labour on the grounds of their socialist origins but unfortunatly they have moved centre-ground. Not that i have anything against moderate centreground politics, its just that whilst they are labout at the moment they have blured the lines too much with the Conservatives (who i really hate, especially David 'Dave' Cameron, who incidentaly i met a few days ago).

yeah, it's pretty socialist. not socialist as in communist, but it's a welfare party, welfare being a good word. everyone taking care of each other, not always the endless competition. it basically supports the free market economy, which to an extent is great, but also emphasizes the nordic welfare system

 

yeah same here with the social democrats here, they've moved to the centre more

they are somewhat nationalist, but they're more concerned right now with the libertarian policy. historically I think they've been the party to push for independence, that's the name of the party at least. right now there's just too many people voting for them cause their parents did so...

no, that too cynical. though i do hate Blair. who really gave birth to new labour was Thatcher. this is due to the third way. Thatcher and the new right or neo-liberalism so so ring wing that well if a new government comes in which is fundementally socialist you cant swing between to somewhat extreme ideologies, it would prove crippling to the economy. so, what happened was after thatcher major, who was also conservative had to move to the centre and then when labour came in after 97 they too had to move to the centre to stop that economy collapsing. the british economy has been a disater for ages.

 

well if u want to be cynical theres more evidence for the conservatives moving to the middle ground after howard. Howard was the leader of the party in 2005 and he was a right wing bastard and the manifesto he proposed on immigration was soo strict that the british public just saw the party as racist and they had such bad support.

hmm yeah, that makes sense

guess what's happening is the same as in most western politics now, everyone is kinda moving to the center of things, competing for every vote

 

and I mean let's face it, most states have settled on a system everyone basically agrees on. politics are now about these minor details or arrangement of things really, or matters that don't look to the right or left...

okay wow I'm so goddamn nervous right now

I haven't been this nervous seriously since I don't know when, there's just this constant knot in my stomach right now...

 

reason? I'm graduating this afternoon...

and I don't get why I'm this nervous, I only have to get some spotlight for the few seconds the principle gives me my certificate hehe

I guess I don't like big events and wearing a suit...gahh

makes me feel like such a penguin

I'll wear a grey suit though, which will make me feel like less of a penguin

 

I'm also a bit nervous about wearing the shoes...you know your better shoes. they're a bit long and I'm not used to wearing them...I'm worried about falling over on the steps we walk in the ceremony

 

this doesn't really make sense, I wasn't this nervous in the exams, or even the hectic final weeks of regular school days...

I'll be glad when this is over, and I hope I won't ever be this nervous again...shit.

 

 

 

 

after this it's just work and band practise really lol

Ill be working in a mail room of sorts or whatever you call it, sorting out which packages go where, at the postal service

and then there's a possibility my post-rock band will start playing live this summer, can't wait
