looks like rappers will claim the biggest sales of 2007 MTM sold 625000 after the first week

the fact is, compared to rock albums, rap and pop albums sell through the roof, why? who knows, but rap and pop sales easily outstrip band sales, hell, look at brit, shes apparently worth 80+mil a year, and she hadnt even released an album out until just recently

the thing especially in Hip Hop is that the record labels buy CDs from their own artists to get first week sales up and to have a number 1 debut...

 

let's just wait for 2nd week sales to see if it's real....

No thats not true. Method Man and LL were both on Def Jam and they suffered in sales. if they bought there albums then why do rappers on def jam claim they were screwed over with sales and promo.

 

and i am a big rap fan. and rap sales are at an all time low. selling 300,000 is like gold. and selling 500,000 (gold) is the new plat. because only rappers that will sell through the roof are; Jay-Z, Eminem, MAYBE 50 (we'll have to see) Deff Kanye, The Game, Young Jeezy, T.I., Lil' Wayne.

take a look at sound scan WITH EVERYONES SECOND WEEK. in rap anymore your first week counts the most now because if its not good you might aswell not even hope for good sales your second week. and nobody like Jay-z last album. it got bad reviews. thats another reason why it dropped so low in sales.

Well, you have to think for a second. What is the gain from being Number 1 in reality? It would only help the artist. It wouldn't really help sales because technically the company would be loosing money by buying their own cd's. And they have to buy it in order for it to even be legit. And I'm pretty positive if someone is constantly buying over AT LEAST 50 of the same cd's from the same record company eventually things would add up and store officials are going to get suspicious. I'm not saying they possibly don't have their own inner corruption with album sales. But buying their own albums makes no sense. They have no true gain from it. They'd technically loose money. Reselling would still cost them initial cash with repairing the cd's and removing any past stores logos or branding that may have been placed on it. SO ESSENTIALLY in order to actually do it right, they'd have to set up a fake company send them like 2 mil worth of cd's then take them back but just say they bought it. Which lol, would be way to complicated.

 

But yea, Kanye murdered 50, thank God.
