How much do you usually tip servers?

I just got home after a night of waiting on tables and there are nights where I make a nice chunk of change and there are nights when people are just damn cheap.

 

Now, I was just wondering what percentage you tip a server that provides exceptional service?

In the UK it is customary to only tip if the service was good, SERIOUSLY! We don't have to pay tip if we don't wanna, it ain't even included in the bill. But if I was treated well I usualy tip about 20% or 10% if it were pricey.

I give reasonable tips. Obviously I don't always have the money but I mean I at least try to throw down 5 USD. I don't really go by percentage because since they don't really make the food themselves it's not like they were going through extra struggle just to make my steak. Of course if they are nice waiters/waitresses I will give them more accordingly but yea. I guess I can understand if in certain countries you don't tip because it not part of your customs but I mean if you don't tip just because it's not in your bill, or because you don't have to I find it kind of ignorant.

 

 

I work at a grocery store bagging and I only make money through tips so I know what it's like when people don't tip you. And bagging is a hard job, because you end up bagging like 2-4 carts and only get 5 bucks and it just doesn't always feel worth it. After rushing to fill up their carts with bags without backing up the cashier and shit and then some people make special requests like paper inside of plastic which is a pain.

Shite bro, no hourly wage? I feel your pain. Yet I work at a supermarket, which is NZ biggest store- chain, and get $11.25 NZD an hour, cause im 18.
