anesthetic awareness

I just heard about anesthetic awareness because of the movie "Awake".

 

Anesthetic awareness means that you are awake and aware, but paralyzed during a surgery.

That means you feel and hear what happens but you can't move.

This happens to 20-40.000 people alone in the US every year.

 

If I think about it, it just freaks me out.

It must be really horrible for people who experience that.

 

Maybe it's shown a little too extreme in the movie...but still it's unbelievable

I've actually had this done to me. You're completely numb, trust me. I had this when they pulled a hemocath out of my chest, that I used for Dialysis. It's not that bad, at all, really... It feels like being high, really high. And there's a little tugging, but it's not even discomforting, it's just interesting. Not painful, but not particularly enjoyable. You can just feel it happen.

 

And besides, you're high, so who cares?

We actually got on this topic after lunch today, supposedly some person commited suicide after experiencing it. They had nightmares every night afterwards, which is understandable, I would freak as well.

this has happend to me. i had to have an operation on my teeth when i as 11. when i was younger you got put under by gas and they didn't give me enough wich ment i felt them cutting into my gums and taking my teeth out of my gums. i couldn't do anything as i couldn't move or talk. needless to say i have had a fear of the densist ever since.

Well women can choose if they have an caesarian...

 

but those other people having a surgery...they don't have the option..this happens during surgeries where you shouldn't be able to hear or experience it

Sometimes women can't choose because their baby's too big (like me :D:D:D) or premature (like my sister :D:D:D) lmao and they have to do c-section.
