Stenners
Over the holiday season I have been bonerfying on my Movies! I sat down and watched some of my all time faviroutes and have recently refreshed my memories which ones I truley do love So in no real order! (1) Requiem For A Dream This movie is done so well, the story twists and turns & doesn't fall pray to the standard WE MUST HAVE A HAPPY ENDING trap. The slow demise of the mother is done exceptionally and the acting on all parts is done to a brilliant degree and shows a gritty look in the world of crack abuse. The camera angels and cut scenes used are brilliant and the tripping out moments are just brilliant and freaky in surround sound with the lights off. (2) Forrest Gump The humble story has an interesting way of telling it's self, the narrative point has been parodied on many shows such as 'The Simpsons' but everything here is more or less spot on. You develope emotional connections with just about everyone Forrest be-friends with a humble mix of sadness and humour. (3) Edwoard Siccorhands Truley a masterpiece and is one of the few films that can make me cry, incredibly captivating and very well told story about an unexcepting, accusistional & alienating society & tackles some deep issues without being too in your face. Heart Warming, Tear Enducing & Charming (4) Withnail & I About a pair of alcoholic junkies on the brink of total destruction before moving to the country to seek out the simple life. The relationships between charecters here are done brilliantly and has some of the best one liners ever, anyone who sees this film will quote it.... 'I DEMAND MORE BOOZE!' 'I want cake, we are multi-millionaires' Brilliant soundtrack to and one of the best british films ever (5) Spirit Of Away I dont like Animated films much but this one is something special, the way this enchanted world is displayed is superb, the story in ingrocing and some of the most beautiful moments of cinema could be found. Now you BOOZE! Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Or LPF Sessions 3 leaks before it's done and Spoilers will be posted for every film release. Not to mention periodic troll invasions.
Vash_the_Stampede
Well, I must agree with you on #1. Requiem for a Dream is an amazing movie. So much going on, and it's quite possible for that to happen. #2 I would have to say Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I personally think this is another amazing movie. It follows the book incredibly well, and I think the acting is superb. #3 The Big Lebowski Who can't love the Dude? The Big Lebowski is probably the first movie I ever claimed to be my favorite movie. I've been watching it since the day it came out, and it has yet to get old and prove itself to be a movie I can't watch whenever I want to sit and watch a movie. #4 Bandidas This movie puts a new spin on the western. Steve Zahn, Selma Hayek, and Penélope Cruz make for a laugh a minute comedy. Dwight Yoakam also adds a lot to the cast and movie. #5 Office Space Another comedy, this one about the average week at a corporation office. Directed by Mike Judge, you know it's going to be good. Stenners
I have to agree with all of yours Vash, they are all top films that just missed out on my list I love Fear & Loathing and Big Lebowski especially, the dinosaur scene on Fear & Loathing is genius Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Sygy
yes, requiem for a dream is amazing twill be my numbero uno as well. then 2) Pans labyrinth, the contrast between a fairy tale and the spanish cival war is weird yet fitting in a way. Secondly, the ending is open for interpretation you culd view it that she was a fairy princess. Or that none of was really happening and was a figment of her imagination maybe cause by schoziophrenia she had developed through having to go through all that stress as well as berievment from her father dying. Or simply, she didnt have mental illness and just escaped into her own fatasty world. anways, amazing moving!!! 3) Brick. Personally, i dont really understand what goes on in the movie, the ending is understandable however i just do see how they got there. BUT, the elements of film noir in it are really good especially the hard boiled language. Also, the anti-climatic downbeat pace add to the ambience. the protagonist being such an anti-hero and hating what seems everyone is cliche but works in this movie. And the idea of the bad guy who runs the drugs circle living with his mum with his stuffed raven and wonky legs was just downright dandy!!! 4) Donnie Darko, beautiful, has me in tears everytime i watch it. You can see it a hundred times and still not come to that solid conclusion at the end! nuff said 5) La belle et le bete ny Jean Coctea! all in french the orginally beauty and the beast and you can see where disney stole all the ideas for the animated movie from!! Black_Angel
Edward Scissorhands is amazing <3 Mine; 1. American Psycho - Love the book too, but this film is just sooooo blackly humerous, Patrick Bateman is one of my favourite characters of all time, an insane businessman who goes to work and has lunch with collegues by day, and turns into a prostitute-killing psychopath by night! "I have to return some videotapes" hahaha. 2. Shaun Of The Dead - Always been a fave, I can watch it over and over again and still find it absolutely hilarious.. Simon Pegg is fantastic! Best British comedy/horror film ever. 3. Mean Girls - It's sooo bitchy, soooo American.. but soooo funny! <3 Lohan is a bit annoying but the other characters more than make up for her. 4. Dawn Of The Dead - The new one, the original isn't that funny.. but yeah this is just a really funny film with a nice bit of gore in it too.. the chracters are really entertaining and the ending is soo ironic haha. 5. Sleepy Hollow - Johnny Depp = one of the greatest actors EVER.... and I love the character he plays in this, he's adorable! ^_^ Quote i still love you, girl from mars. FireHawk
1) Black Hawk Down 2) Lord Of War 3) American Pie 4) American Pie 2 5) Resident Evil 3 (Yeah I know say what you want but OMG I love the series for some reason even thought it has many flaws) Quote Please when you see spam just click the http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/4b273718b96672a5cde873c5a972756e.gif graphic and type "Spam" into the text box then click report. azemkamikaze03
Pulp Fiction The very beginning of this movie inspired me to get into movies and acting. The way Tarintino starts off his stars so casually and nonchalant its amazing. Everything ties in and despite there being several back stories, no ones tale falls flat. War of the Worlds(2005) Amazing doesn't do it justice. The camera work on this thing, is like God skeeting all over the hands of Speilberg and his Cinematographer. The acting by Cruise, Fanning, and Chatwik is solid and smart. Raging Bull This movie was just epic and classy. Filmed in Black and White DeNiro really brings shines through on this one. Every time I watch it I'm like dammit this movie is amazing. Borat What is there to say? Saca Baron Cohen created possibly the best comedy ever. The storyline was even good! But that wasn't where the funniness was at. It was this satirical poke at America and Human nature all together that just really made me piss my pants in laughter. Million Dollar Baby This right now is my favorite movie. It is insanely good and possibly one of the best films that will ever grace a screen in my opinion. The acting is amazing, the cinematography is beautiful and the story was gripping. I cried at the end, which I don't do to often. This movie was amazing, I am sure it had grown men crying too. Pi I never really got this movie. I just know that it scares the shit out of me. I actually had been wanting to see Requiem for a dream, and I found a double pack with both in it so I bought it. I watched requiem for about 30 minutes then gave up and flipped in this movie Pi. It was in Black and White and the feeling was creepy. I didn't know what I was seeing as i watched it, but I couldn't stop watching it. I just stared into it mesmerized. This camera in this owns its younger crack addicted sister Requiem. The level of paranoia and disgusting science fiction plagued within this film is just hauntingly real. I don't think Afronsky ever had a true deep moral meaning intentionally planted in there...he isn't that deep and hes kinda crazy...but I think there is one that develops on its own. Requiem for a Dream is possibly the most overrated movie ever created. There is no substance to it whatsoever. What it boils down to, is everyone having a dream but loosing it because of drugs. That's it there is nothing else. Sure it looks beautiful, but that isn't how you make a movie. Darko was good too, but it get waay more love than it deserves. Quote ¿whysoserious? Brkng_Th_Hbt
This is completely a rough draft. Just take note. I might revise it later. -Austin Powers in Goldmember. No telling how many times I've watched this. So many that I really don't even laugh when I watch it... but it's still one of my favorites ever. -Eurotrip. Another comedy. Ah, how I love this movie. Cooper will always be better than Stifler. -Star Wars. I was just watching episode IV the other day on HBO, even though I have it on DVD. I still think I like episodes I, II, and III better than IV, V, and VI. -Resident Evil. I agree with FireHawk about loving the series for some reason, though the games convey the plot better. Alice is super kickass and a great main character. -History of Trunks. This is my fanboyism at it's peak. Yes, it's a DBZ animated short film, only running 47 minutes, but it's packed with emotion and action, though the english voice acting is a bit sub-par. I love the music and character's and everything. -I have to add a sixth, because I'm in a ninja/samurai mood. "The Last Samurai". Yes, you heard me right. I loved this movie. Crap, now I'm thinking about adding Kill Bill Vol.1 to the list... Uma was so badass in that movie... Wow... There's a lot of movies I haven't seen. I haven't seen ANY of the movies on Stenners, or Vash's list. I'm so probably missing out. Time to create a "To SEE" list. I should have watched Requiem for a Dream, my dad and sister were watching it right in front of me, but I was stupid and stayed on the computer, not paying any attention to the movie. Ravynlee
~ Shawshank Redemption ~ Interview with a Vampire ~ 28 Days later ~ The Omen (original - if not the original trilogy, just don't add anything after the 80's all sucks) ~ Monty Python and the holy grail I have hundreds I really like, love my movies, watch at least one a day where I can (more on rare days off) so the list can change at any minute, but I really have such diverse taste that its hard to classify what genres I actually like more than others. It's worth mentioning (maybe for discussion if anyone cares to share an opinion) I just watched Will Smith's 'The pursuit of happyness' yesterday and I will say I wholeheartedly I loved that movie. My god in my humble opinion his best role (showcasing his actual acting ability aside from his almost as appealing physical on-screen presence - remember the shower scene in I Robot? haha ) A few people think it's too slow but what he did in that role was incredibly believable for me. Loved it. Not quite on the list but hey, a few more watches and it very well could be. P.S. BTH I agree with the Last Samurai too - awesome flick! Hell even Kill Bill was kickass... damnit, just as well this aint a top 100 list!
