MTM more polished??

Honestly...when I go back to listen to HT or Meteora the sound was not that clean and polished...

 

what was it that they said before MTM....back to the roots...a more organic sound?

I'd say get rid of Rick for the new album and make another great album.

 

I tried to make a personal best of for my listening pleasure and I was only able to pic 2-3 tracks from MTM because most tracks on there are already so played out.

meteora was very polished in production and mastering, so I can't say MTM is much more polished than that

it is however much more organic

Meteora wasnt dirty, it was over produced and clutterd so it sounds dirty when in reality its just piss poor production

rick only produced, he didnt actually MAKE the songs or have the idea though, the guys decided to make this sound though, so we hafta blame them, i think rick would have worked with anything LP gave him and made em sound good

You must realize if you are a producer you are directing the sound he had a lot of say in what the album came down to but I would say both albums were mixed shitty

 

Rick can be blamed for a lot of it he supervises EVERYTHING and basically determines outcome...

MTM was the suckiest attempt of LP ever to prove themselves more than just a bunch of one trick ponys. And I thought the engineering on Meteora was bad.

nah not really....I mean to just copy that style would also not be cool...but I want some harder hitting tracks and some more of Joe again....I also don't need that rap parts anymore....Mike doing backing vocals and maybe taking the lead sometimes is great.

 

Maybe I should just wait to hear the DBS album to get that....but I think Chester aims for a more classic rock sound like GNR...so we'll have to wait and see....like we always have to

I think HT was the most "grungy" sounding, then Meteora. Definitely MTM's sound is more clean and organic. One thing is the style change, and I do believe the production is also more refined to cause that.

getting rick wasn't a mistake, rick made them open up their eyes and widen their horizons. ultimately it's LP's fault not coming up with better material...

 

they could try changing producers again, preferably try someone that has a different perspective than they do

well rick may be guiding them around...but its still LP who write their own music, you cant blame the guy cause MTM flopped(or in a sense not sound like the old LP),hes helped produce a truckload of good albums previously. hes taking what LP are making and is trying to mould it, he doesnt WRITE the lyrics nor play any form of instruments.hes the reason LP have that more organic sound and style, essentially it was LP who chose the crappy softer tracks,Rick just made em into the best songs he could. you can only do so much with what someone gives you

 

and i kinda agree, a new producer wouldnt be a bad thing either, prolly a more hands on one, someone who gts more involved with writing process not just the recording,mixing etc. someone who can...in a way recapture what LP did with Meteora,HT, and be able to change it so it at the least is headed in a direction which is fresh, but keeps the fans happy

I don't say that Rick is a bad producer...he did great stuff for Anthrax and Johnny Cash, RHCP

 

but maybe he wasn't the right choice for LP

he's doing metallica next, that might turn out horrible, but not cause rick would screw up...

If they bring out a new album in a few years and one of them say in an interview 'we realised fans did not like MTM as much as our previous albums so we thought why not get back to what we used to produce', I would be like 'YES!'. All the same MTM was not hated by me, but change is bad, LP was meant to be rap and rock, not abit of rap, lots of rock.
