Dragonball is a 2008 live action film adaptation of the Dragon Ball franchise. The film follows Goku, played by Justin Chatwin, and his quest to obtain the mystical Dragonballs before the evil Piccolo, played by James Marsters, does. The film began development in 2002, and is directed by James Wong and produced by Stephen Chow. It is scheduled for worldwide release on August 15, 2008.

when it comes to movies, thats my growing forte. and like usually I just watch a trailer and i know if itll suck or not. I can predict the critics ratings and everything. Ive bought close to 300 movies on my own, and im only 17 mind you so while i wouldnt say im a guru, im working my way up to becoming one.

 

So lol this is my almost "professional" opinion on this movie.

 

I feel as though it'll either be awesome or extremely suck theres no, well it was good but not great factor. When you adapt this kind of show you can only get extreme results. I think the genre will feel very martial artsy like Crouching Tiger. Fighting of course will be very cinematic and I think James wong's cinemetographer will do a decent job with that. I definately think there will be humour, but that will make or break the movie itll either be the utterly campy early DBZ vibe, or the more Dark frieza/cell era dbz. They might (hopefully not) go campy. because demographics for this movie are gunna be 13-20something year old males so they have to overall keep it PG thirteen and what's rated G on tv isn't neccesarily pg13 on the big screen. They'll probably use a special look. much like they did on 300 and other action movies. to give it this surreal vibe.

 

thats just how i see it goin down. A very 300 looking and cinematic yet slightly campy crouching tiger knock off

which sounds like a possible recipe for good.

 

stephen chow(prod.) did kung fu hustle which was crazy yet extremely good so i imagine some of that feel being incorporated in

Haha check this out. On eof the actors blogs on her site, and she posted something about the Dragonball movie, and look what she listens to to get on edge for the sets.

 

I've been listening to some harder music to access the edge inside me to bring to the character, some Lincoln Park and Dream Theater. I'm enjoying developing the character and training, learning to ride a motorcycle has been thrilling..

 

There you go guys Linkin Park is now refered to a Lincoln Park int he movie world hehe..maybe she was using Microsoft Word and it corrected it for her lol.

They missed the Dragonball train by about five to six years. This is pointless.

 

Oh, and you can definitly tell they are chomping at the bit for a sequel/trilogy already just by looking at the plot...only one of maybe 5 total story arcs across the entire Dragonball Z and GT series.

i'm gonna watch it, i think it could be fun although there is a big chance i wont like who they cast as the characters. I for one love the DB and DBZ and DBZ GT series and i love Dragon Ball Z basically, but they often fuck up movies based on animation so no high hopes.
