I'm in first year of high school. Just now my parents made me decide on the courses I'll take in my four years of high school and the 5 universities I'm applying to in grade 12 and the degrees I might be applying for those. Sigh.

I currently attend the University of Central Florida. I thought I wanted to be a gator (UF) but it just didn't feel right.

I'm at Taylor University Fort Wayne, studying Youth Ministry. I'm feeling called to help the teenagers that feel ignored, abandoned, and forsaken...cause I used to be one of those teens. I credit my survival of that dark time to God, and I have dedicated my life to the call he has given me to help kids in the same place.

Well, we have the allied health classes at school.. and I had always been interested in going into the health field.. But after taking the classes, I hate the field.. I don't wanna go into that any more.. and then part of me always wanted to become a veterinarian, and so I started looking into that, as my sister works at a vet, and then I decided I hate that job as well.. and that leaves me where I am now..

 

Now, I do have a question, and I am glad you told me you took an interest in graphic design after you saw it as only a hobby.. My friend told me, he figured out what he wanted to be by examining his life and asking him self what he really likes to do,and he suggested I do the same, but the only thing that came to mind was working with Photoshop, and designing stuff, but like I said, I have always viewed this as a hobby and not a career.. and I never really thought my self up to par, but I started to consider looking into graphic design.. So my question is, what kind of class do you take for graphic design? And what do you work with? Just curious.

 

Graphic Design is a full career. If you are talented, you can easily make a good living off of it.

Many art schools, and some upper-end private colleges offer these degrees.

I did alot of research on it, because I almost went into Graphic Design myself...almost went to St. Francis University for thier great program!

Being older than most people here I have already finished my studies. I studied English Language and Literature at AUTH (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - Greece), I graduated in 2005 and I'm currently an English teacher. I adore the English language! To me it is a wonderful language and possibly the easiest one to learn. So, whoever has difficulties in grammar at school I'm here to assist lol

I would've killed you jojo in my high school years. We mostly made our english teachers quit cos they couldn't handle us. We were little devils in disguise.

It's funny some of the lecturers that I have. I have a lecturer for GRP108, my graphics course, where the guy sits there in front of his computer and rants on about how good his car is.

My VIS101 course, my art design course, i have this hippie lady who chucks the shits with windows vista on her laptop which is connected to the overhead projector. i.e. she went through the menus to get to "start slideshow" and i was like "why don't you just press F5?" and she was like "yeah i did that yesterday and the whole thing froze up on me so i don't trust vista shortcuts anymore."

 

Total lolness.

for me iv always had one teacher "transfer",retire or just plain leave after the year ended...mwahaha, and we were rated the "best" year, in truth we were....the bunches after us were just mongrels....

 

some of my USYD teachers steer clear of the technology, everything goes to the shits at usyd lol is mostly old school projectors+ hand outs, <3 chem at usyd, its easily the LEAST boring topic out of studies, its gonna be a long rest of the year....2nd year onwards is always a lot less stressful

I've got 3 more years of highschool left, but I'm alreay thinking about where I should attend. I want to go to college to be a doctor. I really am trying to get a soccer scholarship and an academic scholarship. I really want to go to University of Mississippi, or possibly even Duke University. But, I got some time to think about it all.

iw ant to go to oxford if i ever cqan, that uni is like... a small town unto itseld, the atmosphere looks beautfiul, well i THINK its oxford, thats what my aunt said, her pics looked great when she came back and the place just looks peaceful, and there are apparently alot of pubs....>=]

 

iv heard of stellenbosch funnily enough, but i dont know from where....

 

still, USYD pwnages purely because the atmosphere is 2nd to none, everyone looks appy,jovial even with the workload and pressures and everyone just seems to have so much fun, the atmosphere is so light hearted, plus no uni in NSW can beat the fact our uni looks like the place where Harry Potter wouldnt have looked out of place =p

the closest we have to a natzi is a total pms-ed up bio head teacher,but no real natzis as far as i know

 

the strange thing was i had my bags packed to do pharmacy at wagga wagga with a few mates, but we all got first round offers to USYD and it was totally perfect, its the biggest piece of fortune iv ever had, the place is just amazing

So, y'know who finished their first year of college last Thursday? Me!!

Wow, what a whole new experience. I met some amazing people, learned a bunch of new and interesting things (never used a Mac computer before, so I got to learn all the neat stuff, Illustrator and Photoshop and such). I loved it. I have 2 more years of Public Relations left after this, I really hope its what I want.

But yeah, college is pretty sweet.

I'll be coming to visit family in the US in June, i will also be taking that time to go and visit NYU and Columbia in New York.

 

I still really want to do History but my mum has banned me for choosing it and if i do ill be disinherited and ct out of her life and all that shit, so im stuck with doing Politics. Which i suppose i do like but just not as much as i do history, which i am passionate about.

 

So, im also looking at trinity college in Dublin. Ill be doing a student taster day at SOAS and then ill be going to view Nottingham, which my father attended so he's really pushing for that.

My parent's have snubbed it a bit but they've realised that they can't exactly stop me from doing it soooo.

I'm gonna be looking at Leeds, York, Sheffield, Manchester, Keele and maybe some others eee I can't really decide but I think York would be a really nice place to study History, given that it's such a lovely historic city.
