'Prison Break' production will probably move from North Texas to L.A.

Fox's Prison Break probably will move production from North Texas to Los Angeles for next season, officials confirmed Friday.

"The producers have an exciting idea for next season's storylines, and unfortunately, it may require moving the series back to Los Angeles for creative reasons," said Chris Alexander, a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television.

The show has not officially been picked up for its fourth season, but apparently writers rethought the storyline during the three-month Writers Guild of America strike. Prison Break's crew was informed of the potential move this week, said Janis Burklund, head of the Dallas Film Commission. "We haven't given up on it," she said of the show. "I've been calling producers and asking what can we do, if anything, to keep this here."

Prison Break came to Dallas after an initial season in Chicago. A total of 35 episodes were shot in North Texas – 22 in its second season and 13 this season prior to the strike – for almost $50 million, Ms. Burklund said, and a total economic impact to the area of $122.5 million. The average episode cost $1.4 million, was shot in eight days and employed 600 people, she added.

The news of the potential move came suddenly, Ms. Burklund said, after the Dallas Film Commission was already in negotiations to keep Prison Break in North Texas for two more years, long enough to assure the show of syndication. The two additional seasons would have meant direct spending of $61.6 million and an economic impact of $154 million, she said.

Dallas casting agent Linda McAlister had placed 70 actors in speaking roles on the show and another 35 on NBC's Austin-shot Friday Night Lights, which is facing an uncertain future itself, including as reported this week in Variety, a potential move to another network.

"We're all bummed out," Ms. McAlister said. "Major loss and especially if we don't get Friday Night Lights back."

"Shooting the past two seasons of Prison Break in Dallas has been a fantastic experience, and we are enormously grateful to this talented community of production people, actors and vendors," Fox's Mr. Alexander said.

Ms. Burklund credits show producer Garry Brown, who knew the area from his work on Walker, Texas Ranger, with steering the show to North Texas. "He was our biggest cheerleader to get Fox to even come take a look at us," she said. "After they were out half a day (scouting locations), they said, 'Yeah, this works.' "

Mr. Alexander and Ms. Burklund indicated Fox may look to Dallas for future shows. "We've got a good relationship with Fox," Ms. Burklund said. "We're in their thoughts already."

I really hope this gets confirmed.

But like you said, what about the people in Sona?

Maybe they have an alternative for that, who knows.

So they say they have exciting ideas for the next season

And now that it´s said they are gonna shoot somewhere else, that says that there is gonna be a Season 4.

So all that has to happen now is that this gets confirmed, and then we´ll have to wait to let them shoot an exciting new season.

Can´t wait, hope that this gets confirmed, I´d love a new season

Prison Break: Season 4 Filming Rumors->

Good news for Prison Break fans! Last week, BuddyTV wrote about the possibility of the show returning for a fourth season. The story received an overwhelming number of responses in favor of bringing the show back to find out what happens to Michael outside the walls of Sona and Sucre trapped inside as a prisoner. 95% of the readers voted in our poll that they need a fourth season. They got their wish when TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reported last week that it seemed certain the show was coming back. More details about the fourth season emerged today surrounding the show’s upcoming shooting location.

Despite any official word of a fourth season, Prison Break is looking to move from its home in North Texas to Los Angeles to film. "The producers have an exciting idea for next season's storylines, and unfortunately, it may require moving the series back to Los Angeles for creative reasons," said Chris Alexander, a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television.

If the state of Texas has anything to say about it, Prison Break won’t be going anywhere. The show brought in an estimated $122.5 million to the economy in the Dallas area and a total of 35 episodes have been filmed there. "We haven't given up on it," said Janis Burkland, head of the Dallas Film Comission. "I've been calling producers and asking what can we do, if anything, to keep this here."

Next season will surely focus more on life outside of Sona than in. Michael and Lincoln have parted ways. Michael heads out in search of The Company, and Susan, to make them pay for killing Sara. Lincoln looks to disappear with LJ, the son he has been estranged from for so long. Mahone is also free, so to speak, and has now teamed with The Company. We’ve still got Bellick, T-Bag, and Sucre in Sona but that may not be enough storyline to keep the show rooted in Texas.

Ah, nice nice, and that means we might also still get more of season 3. :D

Yeah I read a few weeks ago on the forum that somewhere was said they might finish season 3 first, no info on it yet, but new episodes are pretty sure when most actors from the show confirm it :)

Another confirmation, this time by Wentworth Miller

Somewhere on the forum was also posted he said that it would continue after the olympics, wich are in august, so that would mean it would continue in September

But i'm still curious if they're gonna finish Season 3 first, but no info on that yet

No one is replying, but anyway, for those who read it, i´ll keep updating

It's comfirmed they take up filming in May and the eps of S4 are aired in September.

So I guess this means no continue of Season 3, but we will have a Season 4 in september :)

Well, they may not be call it season 3 anymore, but they are probably just gonna continue from where they left off, so no worries. :-P

Yeah that they're gonna continue from where they left off is for sure, but I meant they aren't gonna do the episodes 14-22

They're just gonna start with episode 1 again, atleast that's what I think

Yeah of course, 14-22 are now 1-9. Or maybe the writers have changed the whole plot around since then (Assuming they had plans for the second half of S3 already). Either way I just want more and I want it soon. Shame we have to wait until Sept.
