Stenners Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 It's that time of the year again! It's time for the lineups to be announced in their entirety, time to panic buy tickets and set up a small garden for crops of Mushrooms and Marijouna just for the one day/weekend. You get your tent & camp or maybe just go to a venue/park for a day and drink over priced, watered down beer. Watch people fall over from injesting too much nitrous oxide and ketamin with people covered in glitter and face paint.... or in the case of Download smell smelly moshers from miles away after 3 days of constant sweat and GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIT. http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/music/festivalgoers_carling_460.jpg It's all about the mud and wellies! But if its sunny its all about the sweat and bio and all about not showering because next to a chemichal based toilet!!! Thats just repulsive beasides we got bands to see. This year I plan to go to quite a few, some outdoors based, some whole weekends some just 1 day. YAH! Here will be the OFFFICIAL LPF festival journal, post all journals of your festival going experiances here or talk about ones you are/plan to go to! Its the ultimate share stare, rave about the best and worst bands of the events... talk about bands you discoverd and funny experiances... share pictures and please for the love of God, if u claim to have had sex in a tent... without pictures it didnt happen! http://www.offtopic.forum/data/MetaMirrorCache/b2f0b50cdf613ad9594dcd180968a7b9.jpg ======================================================== Anyways this year I plan to go to quite a few STARTING FRIDAY! YES Maximum Black 29th Febuary 7pm - 3am London (Indoors) http://profile.ak.facebook.com/object2/2002/23/n9836344815_1643.jpg Final Fantasy, Six Organs of Admittance, Frog Eyes, Dirty Projectors, Alexander Tucker, Stephen O'Malley + Special Guests Nothing that major but it should be really good, I'm looking forward to the fact that all the bands have been carefully selected and are all leaders in their respective genres! It's a real alternative fest, the arent any traditional bands in sight! Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Black_Angel Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Well, as we've been chatting about, I'm going to attempt to get a crew to Leeds this year! I need to have that whole festival experience before I'm past it! They'd best have some good bands too though. Quote i still love you, girl from mars.

Stenners Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Maximum Black 2008 Let me just get this straight, the soundman should be fired for the treatment 'Frog Eyes' got in particular! They sounded so empty and the soundman was doing nothing to try and fix it! I feel sorry for the band as they looked to be putting it all in but unfourtenetly poor accoustics made this a totally worthless experiance for us. http://photos-f.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v203/7/53/564421006/n564421006_951981_6754.jpg This was followed by Six Organs Of Ommitance and again a perfectly fine performance was ruined by terrible empty sound, you could hear the crowd more then the music! This was fixed somewhat by the time Dirty Projectors came on who played a very enjoyable set. http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v203/7/53/564421006/n564421006_951984_7808.jpg This brings me onto Stephen O'mally & Alexander Turner who performed as a duo and proceeded with a 30minute wank fest, 1 song it was. Single note plodding with droning vocals it was incredibly slefish music... the crowd looke pissed off and heckling procceded we went out to the lobby to get some air and talk cause if you dont like the band you should just leave the floor and let people who appriciate it get closer. But I dunno some people loved it but most people were just angry. http://photos-h.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v203/7/53/564421006/n564421006_951991_228.jpg This braught on the headline act Final Fantasy and the combonation of the live paper cut out tim burton esc projection and superb vocal performance from Owen Pallet people were entrance by his music, it was beautiful & the sound was finnaly good! It almost made up for the 3hrs of mediocrity before it but not quite, overall it was pretty forgetable as a festival despite Final Fantasys efforts. http://photos-g.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v203/7/53/564421006/n564421006_951990_9877.jpg Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Hahninator Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 nice thread. every year we have a party in IRC for like a few weeks. we watch the webcasts of all the big festivals - pinkpop, download, rock am ring, etc. I love sitting at the computer all day and night watching that shit. going to bed super late, waking up super late and watching performances. its so much fun. eat/sleep at the computer. some nights no sleep but only like 1 hour. its a really good time we have (a group of like 10 or so of us in the LP IRC channel). we always watch a ton of bands but also look for upcoming good bands as well as watch the amazing headliners. too bad LP wasnt webcasted last year (damn label). our highlight last year was gogol bordello. fucking awesome. we watched the band at all 4 major festivals I mentioned...it was a riot. loved it. I rip like half the performances and upload them too. ill post in here and give my thoughts on bands. stenners you should make a list of the big 08 festivals that are gonna get webcasted. so much fun for us even though we're in the USA. school is out, it's hot outside, but nothing beats watching 100s of bands perform for like 2 weeks straight at these festivals. WEBCASTS OWN. Quote
Acezorz Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I want to go to reading or leeds this year, never been. And Download is somewhere i've always wanted to go. We should all totally organise a festival to go to and have a brit meetup! Quote

Stenners Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Pink Pop has some good big bands, I mean Metallica & QOTSA arent to be snubbed at but by the same token its kind of dull, predictable and 1 dimensional and the is some real shit (The Wombats & Kat Nash) Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Jeezy Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I think I'll go to the Splash! festival here in Germany this year. Jay Z is there and some other nice Hip Hop acts i just wait till they announce Lupe Fiasco Quote
Stenners Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 lol at those band names we dont have festivals in SA :< just Coke Fest which is a day concert. I think in the UK the is about 3 a week in the summer, I dont know what ones to go to... the are too much in terms of choice. I have enough money for one more major 3 day festival and its either going to be 1. Secret Garden 2. Lattitude 3. End Of The Road 4. Reading This is in order of peference I dont know yet, literally stumped... also going to get a ticket for Loop almost deffinatly when the line up is put out! I'm going to an all dayer in April as well but im not going to list it as its just a pass time before ATP! I mean Brighton alone has about 5 or 6 a year! Stenners Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 When it comes to Reading, the most fun ur gonna have is after the bands, everyone is up, twated & happy and u party to the wee hrs in the morning only to do it all again the next day! Im sort of upset that it looks unlikely that i'm going this year as I like the messey festivals but I think I need to give it a rest because I always end up in a state at those sorts of festivals. Black_Angel Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Omgggg. Right. If anyone wants to take me to the Iceland Airwaves festival this year for my birthday I'll love you forever! It's from 15-19 October '08, my birthday is on the 16th, I can't think of a better 18th prezzie hahah buttttt I'll never be able to go, it's too far/expensive ¬¬ But hey, a girl can dream :] Quote i still love you, girl from mars.
Friðbjörn Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 woah haha I was just about to mention I was going! cant take you though, sorry =( but yeah our currency took a 30% dive in like one month, everything is now that much more expensive here and iceland was expensive before that... but yeah I finally came to my wits and decided to go this year. plus my friend is bringing yndi halda this year, they might play the airwaves. if not then this summer Quote [broken External Image]:http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2784/lpfas08mostintelligentym8.jpg
