Stenners Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 stfu now matt. lolness :-P > The Smashing Pumpkins > Pearl Jam > The Cure > Nirvana > Savage Garden > INXs > Alanis Morissette > Jewel > The Cure were terrible in the 90s I consider them more late 70s/80s but deffinatly not 90s! > INXs are an 80s band, their 90s output is forgotten, not to mention God AWFUL! > Alanis Morissette isnt a band > Jewel is better in the 00's Im kind of shcoked that u thought the cure and inxs would ever be considerd 90s, when I think 90s I think Grunge and Britpop ala Oasis, Supergrass, Verve & Blur... very 90s, they sort of were fashion icons of the era. Smashing Pumpkins are by far in large the best band listed from the 90s, Fugazi should get a mention for the underground emo scene and Radiohead produced some of the best albums ever in the 90s period. Foo Fighters are a very 90s band as well, don't consider them at all relevant nowa days as were Weezer, they made 2 of the best pop albums EVER with Blue and Pinkerton. Pavement as well, they are very much a 90s band as they were amazing but havent released ANYTHING outside of that decade. Portishead put trip hop into the mainstream & have some of the most memorable songs from the decade & Cypress Hill/Beastie Boys made hip hop cross over into the the mainstream by appealing to Rock & Pop fans as much as hip hop fans. SO the deffinative list of what I consider 90s > Nirvana > Pavement > Oasis > Blur > Spice Girls > Boy Zone > Portishead > Fugazi > Smashing Pumpkins > Cypress Hill > Beastie Boys > Radiohead > Verve > Weezer > Foo Fighters > Supergrass Thats more like the 90s I remember *note i dont like all the above artists Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. woodyloveslinkin Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 GOOO SPICE GIRLS!!!! <3 Don't forget to mention Aqua & Vengaboys ! Best people to listen to when you're drunk/on roadtrips. they pwned. Yeah but Alanis Morissette had a back up band...same shit different bucket... Jewel sucked in the 00s. "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "Foolish Games" were the best songs. INXs & The Cure = same shit different bucket. Oh I forgot to mention Oasis I really liked (What's the story) Morning Glory. Black_Angel Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 The 90's = BRITPOP! <3 Oasis were fantastic, always gonna be the best Manchester band out there. Stone Roses, more Manc legends. Pulp, I was practially raised on Common People. Ash- Girl From Mars <3 And they're still great today. Blur of course. Yank ones like Green Day and The Offspring were also quite good. I can't think of anymore off the top of me head. Quote i still love you, girl from mars.
Stenners Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 FUCK ON A STICK! how did i forget Pulp, the britpop geniuses! wonderland Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 This is all the bands I still have on my computer that take me back to the 90s... excluding the plethora of riot grrrl & solo artists. By the by Stenners, at least in my opinion, Beastie Boys were better in the 80s. That's when Licensed to Ill came out & Paul's Boutique. Stenners Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I wouldnt say Pixies were 90s The Breeders, NIN, Stone Temple Pilot & Silverchair are very 90s centric I think Beastie Boys peaked in popularity in the early 90s though, thats what im saying and QOTSA are more of a 00's phanomenen. wonderland Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Pixies called it quits REALLY early in the 90s but that's when I listened & it just reminds me so much of 1993 it's ridiculous. More of an add for my own nostolgia if you will. Beastie Boys fame was mostly from Licensed. That came out in 86. Maybe it's me, but I listened to QOTSA when they first came out on the scene. I only have the s/t & Rated R. CDs Both are from the late 90s. Quote "The extreme always seems to make an impression." - J.D. (Christian Slater) "Heathers" "If the apocalypse comes - beep me." Stenners Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Oh yea fair enough, I was mainly refering bands that defined a scene or culture in the 90s otherwise I would be banging on about of Montreal, Modest Mouse, Sonic Youth, etc. but they arent really what i consider 90's bands despite being active in the 90s and the 90s out put being better then the 00s output *not so much the case with of Montreal Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. FireHawk Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Stone Temple Pilots Nirvana Korn (I consider them a 90's band because I don't think of them as Korn anymore) Pantera (that might be 80s can't remember off top of head) All I listen to besides old Green Day (when they were good) Quote Please when you see spam just click the http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/4b273718b96672a5cde873c5a972756e.gif graphic and type "Spam" into the text box then click report. wonderland Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 So you know, FireHawk, Pantera did gain success in the 80s but songs like Cemetary Gates & Walk came out in the 90sl. I'm not even going to touch the Green Day thing for personal loathing. Quote "The extreme always seems to make an impression." - J.D. wonderland Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Even then I wasn't a Green Day fan. I think they are one of the bands that killed real punk... Them and a few other California pop-punk & hardcore bands. Which is kind of sad, because I like a lot of Lookout! Records artists. But the fact that they couldn't be bothered to write one original thing about the Pistols (around the time of the Pistols "induction" to the Hall of Shame they wrote an article that was just old press clippings put together). And they said they were more punk than the Sex Pistols. I don't think they earned the right to call themselves punk. And they even went the Tim Armstrong route & made 3 different bands (though don't tour or do press) that sound alike because they cower behind a major label. I honestly can't see how anyone could stand these people... And it's the people who call people like me & others "posers" that do. Now that's irony. That's another thing that pisses me off about the band, but not just that band. Maybe I'm getting older & contempt of todays youth (though I think I always was) but I can't stand kids today, especially the ones with their noses in the air like that. To me, all the kids albeit prep, goth, mall punks & goths, whatever there is I don't know anymore... it's all the same, a horse of a different color, but still a horse. If that makes any sense. woodyloveslinkin Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 Silverchair's albums like "Freak Show" and "Frogstomp" were the greatest product of that band. Now they have a shit album "Young Modern".....*shivers* Quote Mia Elizabeth 18/2/10 Kate Helena 8/7/11 My baby girls <3

wonderland Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Stenners, you got on woody for adding Alanis & Jewel because their solo artists, but yet you praise Bjork? She's a solo artist too. Her band was the Sugarcubes. If I remember correctly, Cornelius is also a solo act. That's why I didn't add people such as Fiona Apple. That being said I earlier forgot to add Hootie & the Blowfis & Blues Traveler. Quote "The extreme always seems to make an impression." - J.D. Friðbjörn Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 lol doesn't matter, Björk is so much diverse and better than Jewel... sugarcubes were a great band, especially for the fact they were playing pop music as a joke they all came from a rock / punk background, and thought, hey why not try pop, something they knew nothing about Quote [broken External Image]:http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2784/lpfas08mostintelligentym8.jpg
