woodyloveslinkin Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 http://www.stuff.co.nz/4259144a1870.html[/b]] Fans of The X-Files no longer have to rely on internet rumours to seek the truth about a sequel to the 1998 movie based on the popular TV series. On Wednesday, Fox announced production will start December 10 on the sequel, which reunites the show's stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The studio also picked July 25 as the US release date. Series creator Chris Carter will direct the still-untitled film. Carter also co-wrote the screenplay with X-Files veteran Frank Spotnitz. The duo also are producing. Shooting will take place in Vancouver. The studio is staying little about the film's story line. All that is being revealed is that it is a "supernatural thriller" and that the movie will take the complicated relationship between FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions as Mulder continues on his quest for the truth and Scully remains inextricably tied to her partner's pursuits. The July 25 release date would put X-Files up against Step Brothers, a comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and an untitled comedy starring Ice Cube. Fox's X-Files ran for nine seasons, ending in 2002. The first feature film, produced by Carter and co-written with Spotnitz, grossed $US187 million worldwide. WOW. And desperate for more time on our screens. But I did enjoy the series a lot. The movie long episodes sucked ass pretty bad though. Quote Mia Elizabeth 18/2/10 Kate Helena 8/7/11 My baby girls <3
Ravynlee Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 You know what I think is sad? It's the same thing for any star that makes it really big and never achieves recognition for anything else - we all know them, stars like Christopher Reeves that will forever be remembered as Superman or McCaulay Culkin as that annoying brat in Home Alone - or David Schwimmer as Ross in Friends  Same thing here. Mind you I think they had potential to do bigger and better things they'll always be remembered by the characters that made them most famous... I like the idea it's not two new faces trying to fill familiar shoes, IMHO the show went under when the new agents came on board. Just my humble opinion. I don't know if I'm that thrilled to see it now so long after the benchmark was set but never know... if nothing else might be good for a laugh I actually liked it once upon a time... some of it. Some was a little too 'out there' for my tastes, but hey... if things like 'Superbad' can make it then I'll sure as shit just be happy to see something else out there on offer besides the usual teen/romance and slasher-remake films choking our screens. Damn. Makes me want to stay home and read a book instead.
