Aqua - back togther and touring this year!

One of my fav bands growing up. Can't help but to like them.

 

Aqua is a Danish-Norwegian dance-pop group, perhaps best known for their 1997 breakthrough single "Barbie Girl". The group formed in 1989, and achieved huge success across the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Although often criticised by the media, the group managed to top the UK Singles Chart with their first three singles, a feat few artists have achieved. The group released two albums, Aquarium in 1997 and Aquarius in 2000, before splitting up in July 2001. The group sold an estimated 30 million albums and singles, making them the most successful Danish band ever.[1] The band is formed by Lene Nystrøm Rasted (vocals), Rene Dif (vocals),Søren Rasted (keyboards) and Claus Norreen (guitars).

In their prime, Aqua managed to make the singles chart top ten in a number of countries where European pop acts would not normally succeed, including the United States, Australia, and Japan. The group also caused controversy with the double entendres in their "Barbie Girl" single, with the Barbie doll makers Mattel filing a lawsuit against the group. The lawsuit was finally rejected in 2002.

Since their 2001 split, Nystrøm, Dif and Rasted have all achieved solo chart success, and Norreen has continued in the music industry remixing other artists' material.

The group has announced the upcoming release of a compilation album featuring new material, and the four original members have confirmed Aqua will reunite for a tour in 2008. This was confirmed at a press event Friday on October 26, 2007.

Didn't like them the first time around, am pretty certain this second coming will be like nails down a chalk board for me. And it's not that I don't like them. They had potential (especially for teeny boppers and music for little girl's parties) but the fact that they were flogged to absolute death by anyone with two speakers and less brain cells just makes me want to gag in abhorent disgust. Actually that was a tad harsh.

Okay I don't hate them, I just really don't like them. I appreciate everyone is entitled to their own opinions and tastes and kudos for that, world would be a Xerox machine if we weren't, BUT having said that, like any true artist, you have to know when to draw the final mark, take a step back and appreciate your work of art rather than risk overworking it - which is exactly what's happening here.

Desperate for money again I think.

That - and - if they want to 'come back' I would think they should have given themselves a new name, face and game plan etc. Aqua had it's time. The world isn't so happy-go-lucky anymore. They should really be wary of their target audience or this come back will be disasterous.

Imagine Jesus bringing Lazarus back from the dead and having a rotting corpse stagger out rather than a healthy and cognitive person, get the drift?
