List updated. Instead of James Laurie as our landlord we now have Hugh Laurie (House M.D, Stuart Little and Black Adder), so we have a character which everyone knows who he looks like, if not, google it I say.

well I started mine and its pretty long but dunno it sounds kinda lame to me O.o maybe its just me or its just that usual boring life of mine x] lol

oh and btw as an example I used Brad in my story do I have to make that like "official" or something so no one else uses him or is it more like the system of "who comes first gets first" if you get what I mean ? x] lol

Sarah, I have editted floorplans, I think we had too many rooms quite personally, so I redesigned my redesigned floorplans of your designs Confused yet?

Anyway, looking at the pic of the building, I imagined 3 apartments across, I couldn't balance 4 (facing street) so I have DRASTICALLY cut down apartment numbers, this will FORCE some people into floor 2. Sorry

Okay I'm going to send a PM around after seeing/approving of these floor plans for DL and Firehawk to edit out their number and the plans will be up in no time. And I'll edit out the first post.

Self explanitory.

To the best of my knowledge I don't know how the basement and ground floor equal out. I visualised the steps on basement to go down, like a sunken staircase and the second set of stairs (towrds top of page) go up to the first floor. I don't know how everyone else imagines it... just my artistic license

It's up to you (writers) to add 'extras' as you see fit.

However, having said that, at the start we specifically said it's worthwhile moving in 2 ppl into your apartment for that very reason. You could create someone new and move them in with you now (so long as no one else has already 'claimed them') and then you will have a new 'housemate' for you to control.

 

IF anyone wants to bring new people in but NOT to live with in your chosen apartment, (say friends, associates, walk-by's, whatever) then they are free subjects for everyone else to write about too. These 'fake / fill in' characters, regardless who makes them, aren't controlled by anyone but everyone to write whatever dialog, plot, personality they see fit at the time to fit into their story.

 

REMEMBER YOU ONLY CONTROL THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN YOUR APARTMENT.

 

Hugh Laurie ('Dr House'), the character who plays the Super, is the perfect case in point. EVERYONE controls him, depending on their story. He can appear anywhere in any context. That's a fake character. No one specifically owns him. He exists for the mere sake of it - oh and to collect rent for those who are paying it

 

Be wary we don't have too many and lose ourselves (the 'real' tennants) in the crowds of fake characters. Just a suggestion, at least to start. Maybe later when you get bored... it's an idea

See the post before Sarah's latest (in WC). It says the day. Keep an eye on the posts, they're moving quite frequently now

All you have to do is write yourself in, it's a collaboration story where everyone basically writes their own tale and intertwines it with other people, the end result being a whole bunch of stories making one large one (providing people interact a little) in the Writer's Corner. It can be about anything, providing you are the central character to your story. Keep checking the thread in the Writer's Corner and read what others post during the day. It's a good way to introduce a new idea or help give others ideas and develop this bigger picture. There is no great plot per se, we push it along (hopefully) as the days progress. Right now we are settling in. Each day, 24 hours, we write something for the course of that day in the lives of our characters. You can only post once a day (real time) to give others a chance to read and catch up and write something themselves before the deadline.

 

If you don't know where to start basically imagine yourself moving into a strange new apartment block and settling in. To get a feel for the place and neighbours read the posts already there by various members. You can use as much or as little detail about yourself as you want. It's a story after all, you can be whatever you wish so long as you are yourself. You can even bring in a friend... please consult the rules/guidelines for more details. And don't be afraid to pick out someone you already know and interract with them in some way. Use generalities, don't be too specific, and give the other person a chance to either elaborate on it or explain their way out of it If you don't know anyone then ask... that's what this thread here is all about.

 

The room you want is up to you. My advice is if you want in get in fast before someone else takes it. We just did that illustration and room 'alotting' to help us writing keep track of who's on what floor and who's next to whom, etc. It has to make sense after all for those of us 'living' there

 

If you need any more help understanding just what this whole thing is about again please check the guidelines in the general section. I think even Sarah has posted a link on the first post here if you want to investigate.

Any questions feel free to ask.

 

No one will judge you on content, style or how well you can or think you can't write. We're only in this for fun, and to try something new. Can't hurt. And if you start but then decide you don't want to do it you just write yourself 'moving out' and it's all good. No problems. Just intriguing to see all the writers and those that never thought themselves as anything like that coming together like this.

I think it's awesome. Just hope it lasts. Only time (and posts/development of stories) will tell.

And yes you move yourself in (with/out a friend) and basically get to know people, decide who you like, don't like, want to avoid, want to interract with etc and take it from there. It's really your story about you and this place 'Gethsemane Park' is the backdrop for it. It's like a TV soap I guess, it's a bad analogy but think of how each character has their separate lives on one hand and yet they all come together to make a show/community of it. Sort of like that. At least that's the general idea anyway. Hope it makes sense.

 

And np We were racing to see who would post first at midnight she or I. I won. She posted Wednesdy's update first so... no one really won that race XD
