OMG I thought I was going to live a life without anyone asking that question, well, there's a first to everything I suppose...

The X-Files rocked the 90s tv screens. It was then made into a movie and now there's a sequal to it, after all these long years since the first one was produced....I hardly remember what happens in the first movie now that I think of it. It's been a while.

The two major characters, Scully and Moulder appeared on the Simpsons as well, where Homer sees an alien in the woods and Agents Scully and "Smoulder" are called in to investigate.

The X-Files is a Peabody, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning American science fiction television series created by Chris Carter, which first aired on September 10 1993, and ended on May 19, 2002. The show was a hit for the Fox Broadcasting Company network, and its main characters and slogans (e.g., "The Truth Is Out There", "Trust No One", "I Want to Believe") became pop culture touchstones. "The X-Files" was also the first TV show to be released on DVD,[2] re-inventing the way the media was viewed; no longer just for movies, but for television shows as well. The X-Files is seen as a defining series of the 1990s, coinciding with the era's widespread mistrust of governments, interest in conspiracy theories and spirituality, and the belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life.[3][4]

In the series, FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are tasked with investigating the "X-Files": marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder plays the role of the "believer", having faith in the existence of aliens and the paranormal, while Scully is a skeptic, initially assigned by her departmental superiors to debunk Mulder's unconventional work. As the show progressed, both agents were caught up in a larger conflict, termed "the mythology" or "mytharc" by the show's creators, and developed a close and ambiguous friendship which many saw as romantic rather than platonic.[5] The X-Files also featured stand-alone episodes ranging in tone from horror to comedy, in which Mulder and Scully investigated uniquely bizarre cases without long-term implications on the storyline. These so-called "monster of the week" episodes made up roughly two-thirds of the series.

The show's popularity peaked in the mid-to-late 1990s,[6] leading to a feature film in 1998. In the last two seasons, Anderson became the star as Duchovny appeared rarely, and new central characters were introduced: FBI Agents John Doggett (Robert Patrick) and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish). At the time of its final episode, The X-Files was the longest running sci-fi show ever on American television.[1] The show was declared by TV Guide to be the second greatest cult television show[7] (Star Trek being number one) and the 37th best television show of all time.[8] In 2007, Time magazine included it on a list of the "100 Best TV Shows of All Time."[9] In 2008, Entertainment Weekly named it the fourth best piece of science fiction media[10] and the fourth best TV show in the last 25 years.[11]

It was a good show, while it was on, but to be honest it didn't translate well into a movie the first time, and I really don't think it will do better this time. Plus the hype for this movie is so dull right now I doubt it doing any significant damage like Dark Knight did.

well...I didn't really like the series nor the first movie...

but this one has xzibit in it...so I'll watch it

..you'll watch it cuz xzibits in it??? is that your whole reason for watching it?

I love X-Files but I don't watch it much just so I don't get sick of it... like most tv shows I like...

Its good to be back.

I'd watch it for the sake of it but doesn't really excite me. Its a case of watch it on the big screen or watch it on DVD when it comes around. Some movies you just have to see at the cinemas to get the full effect. I think ideally this would be good on the big screen but I really don't care for it half as much as I did back in the beginning - the original series.
