nefieslab Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 A random song I wrote. No Soul in Rock What is it today? All we seem to say, Is what they think we should, Never once is a line good. We just stutter and mumble, Our words a messed up jumble, Welcome to the jungle. I need something of value, Something for which to stay, Something more to say, But there’s no soul, In rock these days. I’m tired of acting angry, Tired of writing lies, Tired of my own excuses, I’m singing these empty lines. I need something to say, That can't be thrown away, Something of substance, Something useful, Something soulful. I need something of value, Something for which to stay, Something more to say, But there’s no soul, In rock these days. So there’s nothing to be found, Nothing to hold onto, Nothing to say what’s wrong. I needed something like that, I needed something real, I needed something more, But now it’s so surreal. I need something of value, Something for which to stay, Something more to say, But there’s no soul, In rock these days. With years of trying to fight it, Years of trying to hide it, I cannot go on, All I want is one… One line, That isn’t bought and sold. One line, To show my soul. One line, That means I’m not lying. Not lying. Not lying. One line, That shows that I care. One line, To show that I’m there. One line, That won’t hold me back. One line, That’s all I ask. One line, That’s too much to ask. I need something of value, Something for which to stay, Something more to say, But there’s no soul, In rock these days. Quote
