Valkyrie [based on a true story]

Has anyone seen this movie yet? If so, what did you think of it?

I honestly have to give it 8/10. Not for Tom Cruise's performance but the overral movie. I love war movies/documentries especially on the Nazi Germany homefront. But what I really liked about this film, it made something so complex to understand, so easy. It was well explained.

Now going onto Defiance

I haven't seen it yet but I am hopig to see it when it comes out here in a few months time. Unlike Valkyrie, it's not a high status battle but its set on the German homefront during the Nazi regime. It's about three brothers smuggling out a group of Jewish people and teach them to defend themselves against the Germans. This stars Daniel Craig as well, not Tom Cruise. I wish it had more of a German kink to the name.

There really aren't many spoilers to Valkyrie if it has any historical accuracy at all. I mean if people have learnt any history at all they'll know Hitler wasn't assassinated and that he lived until near the end of the war. If they've learnt some more history they'll also know that the conspirators were executed, lol

ye basically wat fri said, anyone who knows the history will already know what happens, but id still watch this for the mood and action and the drama involved, the interpretation of the events as well, its certainly a must watch

im not sure on defiance, it looks ok enough but the story from what i can gather is abit farfetched, but it wouldnt have looked out of place i guess, thats a maybe for me

Valkyrie was rubbish, I found it boring and predictable, since we obviously knew how it was going to end!! A bit more violence would have been nice (15 rating please!) and some more background to the characters would have made the audience empathise with the conspirators more, since by the end of it I didn't particularly care that they died! Well except for Tom Cruise's mate, he seemed nice. But I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise films in general, always found him a bit odd.

i still love you, girl from mars.
