snafu Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Well I'm supposed to know everything about computers when it comes to my friends and family. Yeah right. Any way my nephew called and said he's buying a new computer. The salesmen asked him if he wanted one with Vista. Well he decided to wait and ask me. Time for Google. Okay I checked out a few different articles but I think this one might help the best. http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=221 But it should be good for gamers... http://www.tradearabia.com/tanews/newsdetails_snRET_article118111.html Oh it dosn't come out until Tuesday. phreakwars Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I probably won't upgrade until the first service pack comes out. First releases are always buggy, better to let the OS have some real world use first. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
DaMan Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Been running it since the first release from CES a couple years ago. I ran every version that was released during the beta test. He'll want to upgrade when it comes out if for no other reason then the better security features. Quote

jokersarewild Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I agree with Phreak on this one. Even if the security features are better than XP, they'll be even greater once the bugs they find are fixed. 1 Quote RoyalOrleans is my real dad!

Well that article said it was a very stable OS even though they are already making a service pack for it. But that's just for the kernel to be updated. Moko Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 "Why can't Microsoft solve [technical problems]? Complacency. Microsoft has no competition to speak of. No incentive to hurry. No urgency to its mission. If it misses its target by, oh say ... two years, what are we going to do about it? Put OS/2 on our machines out of protest? Throw our $3,000 computers away and buy Macs instead? Throw our software away and switch to Unix workstations? Of course not. We're stuck. We're screwed." -JESSE BERST, ZDNet AnchorDesk "Like medieval peasants, computer manufacturers and millions of users are locked in a seemingly eternal lease with their evil landlord, who comes around every two years to collect billions of dollars of taxes in return for mediocre services." -MARK HARRIS, Electronics Times ............ eddo Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 some stores are staying open til midnight tonight to sell those eager to buy Vista first opportunity to get it... maybe I missed something, but is it really that important to go to Vista? I think not... Quote I'm trusted by more women.
RegisteredAndEducated Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I doubt I'll be upgrading to vista anytime soon... I may grab a pirated version though, lol... kidding... or something. I'll wait till they get the kinks out. As for Linux? I looked at it one time and it made my eyes bleed. It maybe a very good system, but it's just not for me. retarded Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Vista seemed slower than XPee, and I didn't see any great security. I was able to fill IE browser window up with search bars http://stealmyid.com/ie7.jpeg the speech to text is a nice app but I had to train it with different profiles depending on the amount of beer I sloshed down. Vista isn't a bad OS for the average Walmart shopper but I think I will stick with SuSE because Vista increased my Erectile dysfunction. Quote
