Cody Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I really can't see the Democrats doing much of anything in Congress. The republicans are behaving as though they still have control....and the democrats are letting them. I think it's time we all talked up 3rd parties!!! Quote

ImWithStupid Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Honestly though. I think the Federal system should be more like the one in Nebraska where the memebers of the legislature are not allowed to declare a party alliegence. A no party system in the House, Senate and Supreme Court and only allow the partys to back Presidential candidates. Quote

The loser must become the Vice President like in the days of our forefathers. Hmmm... maybe not! Al Gore VP to G Dubya? George H Bush VP to Clinton? TooDrunkToFuck Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 The Democrats and Republicans are really the same party to begin with. They both support imperial expansion and concentration of wealth into one class. Democrats are there to create the illusion of dissent. For instance, Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq war, and now says she never would've entered into it if she were president. Obama and Kerry say it never should've been started, but now we need to stick there until a "democracy" is set up. The Democratic party exists for people to dissent in a way that doesn't really threaten to change anything. When people start to believe that a war is unjust, the Democrats are there to spell out why it is unjust -- but only giving half the story, and thus narrowing protest to a convenient level. The Republicans are there to go in the opposite direction and state that actions are just because they are always in the name of "freedom" and being a good American. In the end, what you have are facts ignored and debate narrowed to a nice, managable 2 options, both of which pretty much lead to the same thing. Issues like gay marriage, abortion, porn, etc. are where they disagree, and it helps complete the illusion that voting makes a difference. IMO, activism and pressing issues through the legal system are more important than voting. Quote
