Yeah, but they can't seem to agree about the proper way to worship, the qualifications for salvation, even the construct of the godhead. When you die, do you go right to heaven or hell, or is there a Judgement day? Or are you buried in order to wait for Revelation's return of jeebus and the Rapture? Are there only 144,000 spaces in heaven, and how do you know one is reserved for you? Or does everyone who satisfies whatever their version of Christianity is get to go? Who goes to hell? No passion, unlike Radical Muslims. > Without a strong belief system, they will be blown away in the war > that is coming to US soil.... No whats shallow is how many say they believe in God to get along. Without a safety net church going is insurance for those who cannot afford it. Basically when the benefits of laws created to establish religion without using the word. When they are taken away, like in Europe, religious belief drops dramatically. Your average religious person is deluded or living a lie because the US government have made the system so favorable for religious nutbars. Now they wonder why total flakes become President, and they have cash being flown into Iraq disappearing, and lies aplenty because the religious trusted Bush. Man, America deserves the crap it gets because it feeds religious groups who need poverty, wealth artifical disparities, to thrive. America nolonger provides liberty for all, justice and the pursuit of happiness, costs most Americians far too much. And you know where all that cash is going, yep, religious jobs. The religious industries. Quote

stayhuman Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 "The best hope for humanity to survive beyond this century would be the evolution of some secular global civil society, but the chances for that are severely threatened by those two great pathologies of the human brain- nationalistic and religious fervour. It's amazing that despite all our progress ans sophistication, these primitive traits not only remain deeply embedded and seemingly incurable, but dominant." Quote

So what ARE you going to do with >> the vast majority of the citizens of the US who are religious? No need to do anything with many of the yes men. Answering yes to the question, "Do you believe in god?", and being religious or acting in accordence with a religion's tenets are not at all the same. It's my experience that many who answer yes want nothing to do with religion or a lifestyle that most religions would condone. I consider this to be a moderating factor in how much religion can impose their beliefs by law. If you attempt to force many of the yes men to act anything like a christian or muslim they will de facto side with secularists. Many of your 80% live and act no different than secularists and always will. Rob Brown > > Sadly, nothing.
