TheViking Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I almost got a 85 Tacate, But ended up with the R...I have a 1986 250R now, But its pretty much junk.. The 84's had the radiator on the front of the handlebars...I hated that. They changed it in 85 or 86. My best friend had a 85 250r, I liked it better than my 84 Tecate. TheViking Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 In 84 the Tecate dominated Baja because Honda was still air cooled. I remember hearing all about that. But the next year Honda went water cooled and kicked ass. I remember I used Bell Ray Water Pumper 2 stroke oil mixed 50:1 ...lol Quote 2004 TRX450R, Full HMF Exhaust, jetted, K & N, i-Shock Phantom +2 A-Arms. 2006 Raptor 350, Bone stock http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/dea29ecec90cdbdda9bd6fd562f2773d.jpg
Dman450r Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I love my 83 250r. I keep it in my finished basement all winter and bring her out when the weather warms up. I basically bought 2 rollers and tore em both down and cleaned, painted and replaced everything. I'd really like to find a liquid R and do the same thing but they're hard to find and I'm already putting too much money into my quads. lol I've restored an 86 trx250r with a 310 kit running on race gas too. pics of my wheeler below. eric276 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I found a 110 that a farmer had bought when he heard they were not selling then anymore. He had it winterized and stored thinking it would be good investment. It did not make his wife happy after 25+ years so I picked it up for next to nothing. It is the same model that I had when I was 9. Its perfect to let the nephews run around on, and it brings back alot of memories. Got to love the 3 wheelers. Quote
