Went out riding all day for the first time on my 450er... I have to stop about every 15 minutes because my hands are numb and hurt..It mainly starts at my throttle thumb but at the end both hands are numb...I do have carple tunnel in both hands.. Im not doing the surgery.. My brother had the surgery and his hands are worse after then before the surgery...

Ive tried loosening my grip, that didnt help...

Anyone have any hand exercise tips?

maybe try a steering stabalizer or anti vibe stem an flex bars to try an take away some of the pump which in turn might help u not have to grab so hard or make it easier on your wrists idk just an idea

I get numb hands from time to time. Ride looser, strengthen your hand and ARM.muscles, every little.bit helps

The problem is that you have carpel tunnel. the numbness is from lack of blood flow due to the carpel tunnel. It's unfortunate your brothers operation was not helpful.

Carpel tunnel surgery is very effective and you will have immediate relief if they do it right, which 95% of docs do.

Don't let it worsen, get the surgery and it will help! I know several people that have had it and it's been effective.

Everybody's hands get tired and numb, but if you're getting numb that quickly and you know you have carpel tunnel, get it fixed, don't let your bro's operation scare you into not having it done.

I know a lot of the supercross guys that had the arm pump surgery which may or may not be similar to what they do for the hands had it changed, or said it was worse.

I worked in a factory for 2 years out of college and it's non stop handling and carrying stacks. Very repetitive motions all day long. about 50% of the people in that factory had the surgery, it helps nearly everybody. Anybody who says it got worse either had a shitty surgeon, didn't need the surgery to begin with, or they are older and too far gone to be effective. It's a routine operation, there is very little room for error and it's proven.

certainly, without insurance i wouldn't go for it, wait until you can get coverage.

that arm pump surgery seems worthless, and not everybody should blame their arm issues on "arm pump". it's not like a carpal tunnel or a repetitive issue. It has much more to do with riding style and posture, the lack of flow is normal try waterskiing and see how your arms feel, lol.

i think this is the most important paragraph in that link.

"Arm pump surgery makes sense. If the muscles are pumped up, why not cut open their compartments and give them room to expand? Good question. The answer is not as simple. Most riders don't need surgery to control their arm pump. They ride relaxed, they have an effective training program, their diet is well balanced and their genetics are such that they don't get pumped. Others are not so lucky.

There are a small number of riders who, no matter what they do, are going to pump up. Surgery will be the only arm pump solution for this group. These riders need to have their arm's fascial compartments measured properly and evaluated by a surgeon. The surgeon can then determine the exact compartments that need to be released."

The only thing on my arms that hurt is my elbows.. But thats because Im not use to riding a bike with this much power...My hand problems arent from riding...Its from many years of lawn maintenance and computers..
