Utahrider Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Has anyone used a heavy weight gear oil to oil a foam filter? I remember back in the stone age I used to oil my 80cc 2 stroke with engine oil. I was just wondering if a 75w/90 could do the trick or if I should stick to paying for specific foam filter oil. Quote
alanbmx Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I used to use Torco gear oil or honda red bottle on my uni filter on my 86 ATC250R, now I use uni spray foam filter oil when I am running my uni filter on my TRX450, K&N in the sand and Uni foam filter in dusty conditions Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/92ac89484251c63d73340458b54ac18b.jpg By alanbmx at 2012-04-16
450Riot Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I didn't have anything better when I still had my stock foam so when I first got it I cleaned it and used some Lucas Diff Weighted oil. It ran ok but I'm sure it doesn't work as well as specific oil would. I run a K&N now so there is no way around paying for the proper oil. ridingred Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 it will work in a squeeze, but it's not going to work as well as the oil that's designed for it. Quote 05, 13:1 JE, 02 crf cam, full hmf, razr tt tires, rath sway bar, lowering link in the rear, triple rate rebuilds on front.
