black jack Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 ive been wondering for some time now, just how heavy my quad is so i drove to the store an bought a second set of bathroom scales!! it came in at 314'' 162 on the front and 152 on the rear!! i was looking to be around 300 or less but thats just a few more bolt ons to replace heavy oem parts! axle/hubs/etc. this was done with a dry gas tank too:gr_cool: Quote
mailman Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Wow, that is light. What is done/lightened on your bike? My 05 450R came in at 358 lbs with no fuel. Post up a pic of your bike and what you lightened. Quote Just a little more HP and I should be set.
black jack Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 i dont have any current pics with the front shaws on it in my pc but now im running all 3 shaws, +4 chromoly arm, no front brakes,no fan,no front bumper,no air box, no parking brake, and some stock oem etc crap" i just went back to the oem aarms for now and i plan on getting a lone star axle/hubs. mailman Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 That is a lot of parts but you are 44 lbs lighter than mine. Impressive. That must help out a bunch when racing. Why not go JJ+A axle? Lifetime warranty and top notch quality. How does that bike handle the whoops with the shaws? Quote Just a little more HP and I should be set.

How does that bike handle the whoops with the shaws? if your into jumping at all, then shaws wouldnt be something that would work for ya'' there not as smooth as coil overs:gr_sad: but im giving up alittle bit of ride to cut weight!! they seem fine for my oldman style of riding i guess!! as for axles im looking for the complete lonestar set up, i seem to like the looks of them the best. :thumb: Quote
DPCones Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Interesting, but do you think you get a good measurment only doing one half at a time? It would be like you laying down on the scale only on your chest and let your legs rest on the ground.... Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/508e07386c71becab2bf881014f51ad6.jpg
mailman Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I was lazy and just used 4 scales for less hassle. Quote Just a little more HP and I should be set.
DPCones Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Gotcha! Missed the two scale part.... Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/508e07386c71becab2bf881014f51ad6.jpg
Mattonln Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 LSR axles are expeenssivvvee brent, offer no warranty and are heavier than a gundrilled JJ/A shooter axle. also ditch the oil cooler, front brake rotors and bolts, top motor mount and brackets.
