Loud450man Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 ok im having BIG rpoblems with the front of my 450r. i bought some HLS standerd travel shocks off laz at GTT thunder 2or3 days ago i told him I want them valved for 180lbs (my weight) and +2 arms (i have flipped rims but it still extends +2 and shock location same spot) anyhow i got them today and i was surprised he valved them and shiped so quick but i dident think much of it, Ive never had aftermarket shocks but once i put them on the quad only sits like 4in-5in off the ground is about 50in wide (47 before) and i can compress the front almost to the ground by pushing the bumper down by hand very spongey. is it supposed to be like this or did laz not revalve them? Loud450man Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 do u think the proload is to high? should i drop it its about half way down oh and i measure the quad its actully still47in it looks way wider but its not just the arms are strait out Quote 450r mx quad ...sb, st, flux capacitor :headbang:
Loud450man Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 well put the preload 8slots from the bottom (out of like 100 slots it was at 50) and it sits normal and rebounds good but as u would imagine its hard as a rock at that setting ill do some fine tuning and give u guys a review on them in a week or so since ive notice none of the mxers use HLS shocks Quote 450r mx quad ...sb, st, flux capacitor :headbang:
airmobile101 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 You need to set your ride height and rake before doing any fine tuning. Once the ride height and rake is set, then you can fine tune the stuff,but...... if its already setup for ride height and your able to practically press your front end on the ground, then I suspect he installed or whoever installed the wrong spring rate. Loud450man Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 no once i set the ride hight were i liked it (about 7 1/2in ) it seemed very firm and felt nice ill just have to hit my little track to try them out...to bad it rained last night. oh and the spring says 200 on it. and now that i have nice shocks up front i need a rear revalve and link because it look simple with a high rear and low front lol Quote 450r mx quad ...sb, st, flux capacitor :headbang:
