450Riot
Hey guys Gettin desperate here before school starts. I'm $5500 in the hole with my Visa and my wife is $700 in on hers. I figured out I should have about $400 spending dollars a month after all the bills are paid. Yet somehow I always come up short and end up driving myself into the negatives even more. With my wife I figured she should have about $300 left and she's always dry too. What do you guys do to save money? Or make extra on the side? Thanks. gunny
if you aint got cash to cover it, then dont charge it unless its a necessity like one of your appliances quit or vehicles needs something. credit cards are the worst to get backwards on. what i do is never rack em up higher than i can pay off with my income tax the next year. that way i start clean every year. sell stuff you will never use again. find an old couple that has plenty of money and do small jobs for them. just like weed eating or yard work, painting, whatever. i do some work for an older couple and they pay me very generously. just try to live within your own means cuz if you dont it will bite you in the long run. i know its nice to have nice stuff and put whatever you want on credit but it never pays off in the end
450Riot
Yeah what happened to me was I was doing really good with my cash and decided to Powder my frame and do a couple things here and there to my quad. Then when I was working on paying that off my computer died so I got a new one. Then the wifes car broke down and I had to put 500 into it and buy some tools to get the job done. Plus we just moved so there was a couple things I needed to spend money on to get situated. Now it hurts to log into my bank account and the interest alone on my visa is killing me. ridinredjav
i always pay off my credit card every month but i use it like as if it was cash. im a super tight wad just ask my girlfriend lol. eat as cheap as you can, pb&j sandwiches ham and cheese... just dont eat out. get rid of extra bills you wont need example... if you had satelite tv with all the channels cut it down to the basic plan. dont leave lights on and dont waste water, all this adds up. i also dont have my AC cranked up, i keep it around 77. keep driving to a minimum, gas is expensive Quote 04 honda TRX450R

450Riot
Haha mines pretty good as far as that goes. She's gotten a little outta hand with her credit card but nothing like what I've just done. She already has a million shoes and all the makeup and purses so she's good for a while. We literally got her wedding ring off of a cheap website. "I just want something that looks legit, I really don't care." She's a winner. Guest TT450
The trick to paying that debt off is to spend every bit of your spare time doing scab jobs. If you can add to your income in any possible way you will be able to pay that off in no time. 5k is nothing for credit card debt. Also as long as you dont' miss your payments it's not going to harm your credit. I know people that are 40k in debt with student loans. Just try your best to put every possible bit you can towards that credit card. I live alone and I don't run my air unless it's warmer than 80 in the house. You will only continue to go negative if you cannot live within your means.

nuckinfuts
This sounds all too familiar to someone I know. My philosophy is if you don't have the cash then, you don't have it to spend. Cards are not cash and the best way to recover is to get rid of it. The recovery formula is easy (some comes in and some goes out) but you have to see it in your head. Kinda seems like there is a lot of misc spending in between. If you can, export your accounts into excel, sum up all the basic categories and input into a pie-chart. You'll probably be surprised by what comes out. It will help you to visually see what your biggest expenses are and where your money is going instead of looking at numbers. Just my .02 for ya. 450Riot
I've started to do that. I actually downloaded an app that helps alot with the organization of all of that. Forget the name of it. The hard part now is convincing my wife that we could both change some things to help our situation. dunner250
Thinking he is saying... Money coming in is needs to be greater then money going out. Put a grand in the savings account to start for emeregys. Sell everything that you make payments on (even cars). Go buy a beater if you have to and give it a name. lol Sell everything that you need to to pay off you cc. Then save enough money to cover you 3 to 6 months. cut up your credit cards. Then your free to buy toys. The link that I posted above is well worth your time! 450Riot
Selling my wife's car seems a little extreme. Mine is paid for and hers is $400 a month and a year and a half left on it. I think it'd be a bad move to sell it now. If we can tough it out I'd rather pay hers off and have two paid for vehicles. Selling my quad seems stupid because I can't get enough out of it to make it worth selling since I have so much money put into it. I looked around last night and didn't see anything I could get rid of or make any money off of. I have a used exhaust off of a couple quads I want to get rid of but no one seems to want around here. Honestly I think I just spend more than I think I do on stupid shit. Since this thread started I haven't spent a dime on anything I don't need other than cigarettes which we all know is harder to quit then you think. ridinredjav
my personal rule is i will never barrow money for anything except my house. i paid cash for my 07 civic, my s-10, my 450R, my john deere 345 ect... if you dont have the money dont spend it Quote 04 honda TRX450R
dunner250
Guess your cc is 200 to 250 a month and a 400 car payment is adding up to be a lot when your trying to go to school. Of course its always easier to give advice then to follow it yourself. Its your call...
alanbmx
ditch the I-phones/droids and the bloated cell plan, that is the biggest waste of money these days. get the cheapest phone and a basic plan. my quad is 9 years newer than my car and truck, I got my insurance from costco and saved about $50 a month, I contribute 15% to my 401K and have about $500 in credit card debt just to maintain the card and keep my credit score up I paid off $45,000 in credit card debt in 3 years after my divorce. never again. I have managed to keep my house and get my credit score back up to 700. So it can be done. while in school you gotta live on the cheap and ride out this economy Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/92ac89484251c63d73340458b54ac18b.jpg By alanbmx at 2012-04-
