Stering stem

I just got houser stem in the mail. I come to find that i'm not happy.... :/

 

I paid for a +1 with antivibe clamp.... I did get the products but I'm pretty sure it's +0! I've uploaded few pics down below.

 

can any one verify or mark me wrong. Thank you.

 

1. I don't think i have a handle bar riser, just a normal bar clamp (trail tech 450r logo)

2. The measurements for both stem appears to be the same (with clamps aswell)

looks like you have a +1 riser on there now... So they're going to be the same hight.

Damn it haha. i didn't know because the handle bar feels like it's at stock level and there was a stock key/light module on the clamp before i ripped it off lol.

 

Sighs, time to look for +2 instead

Why not just put taller bars on it? It would be cheaper..

 

If I measure from the top of the steering stop on the frame, I have 29" at the top of my clamp. I have a +2 with atv high bend bars... But you saw how tall I am.

 

Rockymountainatvmc.com has the "chub" bars cheap.. I have them and my buddy that was with me that day has them.. No complaints and they were cheap. They also have a chart that shows all the bar dimensions on their site...

Great idea. I need a couple things from rmatv.com too. The bar seems cheap and has considerable reviews from several sources. I'll have to give it some thoughts. The color black is a nice option.

hey baileyguns, I've searched around and cant find what bend for the handle bars i have right now. I have Tag metals t2 fat bars.

 

I'm wondering to see if you could upload a few pics of your bars on your 450? I'm thinking about trying atv high bend.

You can measure what you have, there's a pic on rockymountainatvmc that shows you what to measure. Some bars have the bend stamped right where they fit in the clamp...

Thanks bailey. That's the ideal height I'd like. I like the looks of that bend and I don't think it'd be too much for me cuz i stand alot when i ride. Even with +1 bar riser that i didn't know i had on, it still felt a little bit low for me. Heck I'm 5'7 lol

Looks like CR high bend.. Any numbers or anything? You could pull out a tape measure and size them that way.

 

There's a guy in Alfred Maine that has a houser +2 for sale. Goes by canandalemaine on the org.

Or go on Craigslist and search 450r drag head, it's the same guy.. He has it listed on the org for $185 with clamp.

hmm, Nice find on the org. I'll get in touch with him to see about that stem. Maybe I'll just get that and see how it suits me. Then sell which ever of the two and stock stem that i wont be using.

Looks like i'll be meeting canandalemaine in portland over the weekend to check out the +2 stem + handle bar. He gave me a deal of 170 on it.

Nice! Bars usually get about $25 shipped so even if you don't like them and you sell the ones you have plus the ones he gives you, it should offset the cost a little. Atleast pay for new chub bars.

 

Not sure what you got the other stem for but if it was cheap you could sell it for a profit (at least break even).. I'll be honest and say that eBay usually brings more money for parts. I buy a lot off the forums but I tend to sell stuff on eBay.

Great info. Actually that's my plan. I'm going to pick whichever stem i like the most and sell stock and the other houser. I still deciding on grips and bars. Chubbs seem to be a great option, and oury or odi lock on would be a good combination. I'm in the process of making a thread here and on craigslists to sell off all of the stock parts i have now to recoup some cash.

 

Depending on how much of a sale i could find on blackfriday for exhausts... I'll get one. I'm keeping an eye open for motoworks sr4 slip on. Also got a good deal on a complete hrc kit for 270. He's holding that for me, in a couple weeks and I'll have it. Then I'll be all set for some riding in spring!

I love the oury grips... They also make oury grips with the odi locks. Both are fairly cheap. If you get the lock ons and don't like them you could buy the odi replacement grips and still use the locks.

 

Chubs are cheap and they seem to be a quality bar but you might be able to find a used bar cheap too... I don't see a lot of ATV high bend, more cr low/mid/high...

 

Buy the time you find a used HRC headed and a used slip on you can usually find a used full system...

 

The key is to be patient and watch all the forums, eBay and Craigslist... It sounds like your on a budget so I'm just tossing my 2cents in. No offence taken if you want to tell me to shut up.

No way man! I will consider all 2 cents given haha! I appreciate all of the advices, helps and feedbacks. I mean i would do the same for others.

 

So you think i should wait it out for a deal to land on? I considered a brand new hrc kit for 270 + and used motoworks slip on for about 150ish... is a good deal. I dont mind waiting out for a full exhaust. I honestly don't think i would need to because i don't have any plans for motor wise. Therefore i figured the hrc kit and motoworks slip on will suit me well. I won't notice any difference between hrc header + slip on vs a full pipe system would i?

 

Yeah i'm thinking that bar is a mid bend. I'll ask him... maybe i'll just keep that and get grips.

 

My only goal is to make my 450 a better machine to ride on over stock lol

Start pricing parts individually... Look at the HRC cam and the 06 crf450 stock cam (believe there the same cam but google it to make sure). Look at the hotcam stage 2. Look at full systems..

 

Youre looking at $420 for what you just mentioned.. A new hotcam is about 170 on eBay... So that leaves you $250 to spend on an exhaust. I've seen used sparks go for that.

 

Most of the hrc kit can be done for free... Cut the green wire, drill out the breather "T" and buy your jets individually instead of a kit... You can end up with a better set up for the same money. JMO

Hats off to you baileyguns. That's another great way, yet a smart way to save money. Found a used stage 2 cam (20 hours used) on the org for 100 bucks, gonna offer him something he might will take.

it's high bend for sure. I think it'll work, just gotta go for a ride to see for myself. Waiting on the shocks.
