Do ya really think swapping to the larger filter is gonna make that much of a difference over the smaller filter? Im guessing at most 1hp on the dyno but IDK for sure.

 

I say this b/c im running the 04-05 box with the smaller filter.

Oh I agree. But in the grand scheme of things to me its one of those "well I could do it, or not. Wont break my build if I dont" at least thats my opinion. Course Im also not looking to squeeze out every last little bit of power outta mine either. Dave is lol..

 

btw, I shoulda taken u up on that offer for the arms..kicking myself for them. But who woulda known Id find a job that paid more or sell the 400ex?

Agreed... But a regular K&N is $50 anyhow... A uni is $30ish (I don't run them so I'm not real sure lol)....

It is what it is. Dasa or Hotdogz. Hotcam or web.... It's all $$ and what you're after.

 

I think I paid $35 shipped for my intake... Used buy like new. I play the patients game, wait for a deal and make due till I find it.

^ Yup, I always wait for the deals if possible. Worth waiting around cause you can find some really good stuff usually from someone parting out.

 

Which brings me to another Q. If you buy the dasa adapter (is there any other that may work) its possible to run an 06+ filter in the 04-05 right? I can nab an 06 filter for free from a buddy but havent even tried to fit it.

I have a very goofy set up... I am running a ring from Racers Edge with no box, but I couldn't get a decent A/F ratio on the dyno with the huge filter they like to use, so we ended up going with an FCI filter from a Raptor 700. (It is a bit smaller, and fixed my lean spiking issues). A 40mm FCR would probably help me out too, but I want to try one before I buy another carb and get a powerjet put in it ** cough cough Dustin cough cough **.

A bit of an update.. Should have my frame back from PC early this week

Just picked up a decent Rossier that will be refinished (thinking black coating, new style end cap)

Well i don't want to jinx it but Matt estimated it to be ~57-58 if I put an effort my intake and exhaust (which is why I got the Rossier and an intake is coming) I know I'm using parts that are 1hp or less off the top Dyno proven top products so I know I'm sacrificing a little but that was my intent for this build; not try and squeeze every last pony out of it and hopefully have it for along time. If it's 55-56 I'll be extremely happy.. considering I rode a stock"ish" head with 13:1 ss/sb HRC kit last year and did pretty good

looking good bro.. and that port work looks good.. also why and for what your going to use that hour meter, im asuming its to keep track of the engine and maintenance, i migth be interested if i get the one that its tach also..

 

and 57-58 are high number without going big bore.... hope you can make it... !!

Hour meter is for maintenance schedules! I've always gu-estimated so we'll see how she goes

Finallt got an intake.. picked up an 06+ airbox, air boot, box lid and two Uni filters for $60 from ethanshafer (great guy to deal with) on the org. This is probably going to be an 06+FCI setup eventually.

 

Also just realized I've hit everything on my list that I wanted to do this build :)

Still haven't got my crank and piston back from Crank Works.. so I won't be ready for June 1st unless I button it back up as a SS/SB for a while.

I can do that or race the 426ex with the 450r's rear LT setup. I added a 450r carb to it last night too so it will be quick enough I just know I won't finish as strong as I usually do though.

Maybe I'll try and find a chicken suit or something for this race ;)

I'm really liking them graphics. That's gonna look sick man!

 

Im hoping they really pop, pretty excited to get it back again.. Kinda pissed at crankworks, I called them early last week and told them the situation and they said they'd try and have it ready to be shipped out on monday (I was going to next day it to get it here) and maybe have my entire engine back together in time. But they haven't contacted me so I'm assuming it's still just sitting there. 1 month turn around (+transit) seems a little exessive but I don't know how busy they are either..

Looks like I'll be going out to goon on a 400ex lol :gr_driving3:
