rexxtack Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Hell I hope there isn't as much drama...LOL .. I know it will be here also , but it can be fun busting somebodys balls. You guys give me a good laugh from time to time. Im gonna get some new pics this week of my quads. I need some new pics after motor rebuild and kickstart install. Im waiting for some decent weather to break out the pressure washer. We had 1 1/2 inch of snow drop on us yesterday so that's still put away. Kinda sad seems how me and the wife got sun burnt last week. This stupid winter just doesn't want to let go Quote
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I know man! This winter just wont freaking leave! One week its nice out a few days and then its back to freezing or 60F or less. Monday it was so cold here I had frost on my damn windshield! Quote 04R work in progress
alanbmx Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Welcome, winter? it has been fricken 99 here for the last 3 days, in may, at least today it was only 80 Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/92ac89484251c63d73340458b54ac18b.jpg By alanbmx at 2012-04-16
rexxtack Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 HA .. You must be down south some. My brother is in the airforce living in Arizona and been rubbing it in my face that the temperature has been in the high 90's Quote
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Id be happy if it was frying at 99! It works like this: Morning till about 11am is approx 40-50F, very early morning seems tobe as low as 35 sometimes! Midday is approx 50-60F, maybe 75 at the highest for a day or two Night drops back to about 45-50F I was in the prime path of hurricane sandy but I dont live near the water. We only got hit with some bad raina nd the powr out for a week Ever since then not only has it been cold, but the damn wind wont stop blowing all day everyday till dark! btw I saw the rollercoaster in the water I think it would make a great log flume but they are tearing it down I swear when I finally move away Im going where it never drops below 50F! Quote 04R work in progress
rexxtack Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 LOL I seen that pic of the rollercoaster. Its incredible what mother nature is capable of. We have an atv park and high winds and tornadoes is my worst fear and enemy. There are times when we have high winds and I spend a week clearing trails ( last weekend ) instead of riding. We never get the hurricanes but we do get the tail of them. Quote

My brother is in the airforce living in Arizona and been rubbing it in my face that the temperature has been in the high 90's I am in sunny southern California, San Diego. Our winter was brutal, down to at least 40 a couple of times :gr_nod: but seriously it has been real hot since Saturday I do not remember it being 99 in mid May. My buddy wants to go to glamis next weekend, not me riding season is over here Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/92ac89484251c63d73340458b54ac18b.jpg By alanbmx at 2012-04-16
rexxtack Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 That's what I have heard out there about glamis.. Summer months forget about riding its too dam hot. On the other side of the coast here we are all itching to ride. Quote
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 yea that has to stink, riding season must be much earlier than here. here we start around march usually when it begins to warm up and ride till oct/nov when it cools down. Quote 04R work in progress

The heat sucks now it's getting too hot to ride though... Don't like that bit.. Quote
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Just how hot is to hot to ride? Round here the summer can easily be 90F or better sometimes and humidity can approach 80-90%. We still ride lol. And I ride in what we call "the pit" which is a giant sandpit that has everything from dunes to trails to tracks on it. Sun reflecting on the sand is HOT. Quote 04R work in progress

OTMTRX Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 For me.. over 90 is getting uncomfortable... 100+ I'm done... Most riding spots here are 100+ now, one or two at higher elevations maybe still under 90.. but they are long drives for me... Quote
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Yea Id say 90+ is not all to fun but I guess Im lucky enough that we can hit up the wooded trails and keep out of the sun in most cases. Quote 04R work in progress
OTMTRX Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 The first time I went riding to Cal City with RickkyBobby from the Org, he had a puncture / I had a repair kit, rest of group carried on except one guy who would guide us to catch up the rest (the plan), we followed this guy on a KTM EXC450 with a GPS, who was completely fuckin lost, we dropped down a dried up waterfall (No going back) and spent 4 hrs in a river canyon, no shade (unless you crawled under a rock), 100+ and sun bouncing off canyon walls, no wind, every mile or so we were lugging our bikes over big river rocks / boulders... sunburnt to hell, he ran out of gas, we were all fit to drop when we got out of there.. I was the only one with a camelbak but it didn't last long between us.. absolutely brutal at the time but funny now.. 1 Quote
ridingred Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 if you're riding dunes with zero shade i can understand how anything over 90 would be a mess. In the woods it can be 90 but you're shaded so it's not too bad. Quote 05, 13:1 JE, 02 crf cam, full hmf, razr tt tires, rath sway bar, lowering link in the rear, triple rate rebuilds on front.
CJM Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Geez stew that sounds like a horrible day! While were on that topic (whoa thread drift lol) my worst was it was about 60F outside and I was riding along this half bowl we have at my spot. Its bordered on the other side by a very large lake the place dredged out like 30 years ago. The lake literally has 10ft of shore thats it. I went back and forth about 20x riding the side of the bowl and finally lost control and went tumbling into the lake quad and all. Do you know how much fun it is to swim 20ft back to shore dragging your quad with you? Then I had to be towed back 5 miles to the truck and thank god my buddy brought a change of clothes otherwise Id have froze. Quote 04R work in progress
OTMTRX Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Lol.. nothing like a water landing for the comedy side though eh? Haha.. This was about an hour into it... that was the last time I saw Jason smile that day! http://www.offtopic.forum/uploads/imported/2013/05/AFBE706CAC3E4415B6E650D8C3C85D8526550000-1.jpg Quote
