CJM
Yea tires ran what about 600+ easy Ill bet. Small update: I didnt realize it but the brake hub is different from a newer to old 450. I picked up one off a 08 off ebay and the hub itself is about 1/2 longer. Gonna hafta use my old hub I fixed. After taking some measurements it would appear its minutely smaller after I ground it down so I think its safe to use. Stupid parts. Edit: after checking it, part numbers are slightly different. I wonder why its different and how that can be as it wont slide far enough into the carrier. Axle numbers are different as well. chronicsmoke
Yah cost me 685 out the door.. which was the cheapest I could find after shopping around for a good while. | I had no idea the the axles were different, I wonder if the complete assemblies are interchangable? CJM
Anyways: it all went together fine, the machined area of the brake hub is larger. hub itself is otherwise the same after I measured them up and stuff. Now I need a set of rear hubs cheap, one of the wheel lugs is bent somehow or another and the others are ever so slightly bent as well on the one hub. Anyone got a good used set laying around they would let go cheap? Quote 04R work in progress
alanbmx
i understand they are different part numbers, that is common with different year models even though the part is identical. Just wanted to make it clear for anybody else looking to do this swap or interchange, the axles and hubs are identical from year to year, regardless of part number. Now, go have a cupcake and settle yourself down, it does nobody any good when you get hostile. Just trying to be clear about your statement....these parts are interchangeable. anything to fucking argue, always have to have the last word.... just go away, WTF is wrong with you 2 Quote http://450rhq.com/data/MetaMirrorCache/92ac89484251c63d73340458b54ac18b.jpg By alanbmx at 2012-04-
chronicsmoke
guys, let's not ruin his thread, i mean come on. I was just pointing out the fact that the parts are interchangeable. Sure i corrected his statement and for that he got butt hurt and hostile and has trouble coming to terms, but the real reason i did it was for anybody else that might wonder about this same question. I didn't do it to piss off CJM, i did it to make it clear to anybody else that might read. You guys tend to ignore the subject matter and jump right to the poster. Get a life dudes, i'm here I saw an incorrect statement, i corrected it. Sorry that you don't like it, if anybody else said it we wouldn't have an issue but since you are my biggest fans it's like the end of the world and certainly the end of a thread. Translated into internet troll: Wah wah wah I'm just a victim. Don't want to ruin this thread?? Go back and delete your posts and obey this wishes of the OP. Why are you insisting on posting anyway, because nobody gives a fuck about your shitty build? 3 Quote CRASHTEST RACING IMMORTAL ATV http://www.offtopic.forum/data/MetaMirrorCache/7cbc5acb2a1ab76eac286e7fe5b4520d.jpg

Id still like to know how the lug got bent, I know the lugs were tight, probably was just liek that I never noticed b/c I swapped from open lug nuts to some nice billet closed ones. TP Racing
Even if the hubs are in not ok shape, I think you should be able to press the hub bolts out and just press a new one in. CJM
Might take you up on that Dave, for now I got Ed to gimme some hubs. I saw the airbox, but I need the CFM one b/c I was interested in running the larger 250r filter as well as having the clearance. Reminds me, how many of you raised the airbox for the MX links? Baileyguns
Some times bigger filter isn't best... That box looks like it would take a dasa sized filter. Have him measure it and ill measure mine if you want. CJM
Clearance was the key to the CFM box, the MX link allows everything to hit. I spose I could make a homemade lift kit, its nothing but flat AL bar stock anyway. I do have a quick question for those with an 04-05: I have cleaned the carb many times, replaced the float and needle (with known good one)and still when I tip it on the grab bar it leaks out from the carb into the air filter if I dont drain the bowl. Its not leaking out rhe overflow hose tho. Petcock is good. Its getting really annoying. The r carb on my 400 did not do this. Im thinking the needle valve needs replacing and I should clean the heck out of that passage. Stupid question coming from a guy who knows what hes doing but this is bugging me. Haven't used the airbox risers I bought at all yet and I'm on my 4th setup. I've never had an issue hitting the box, which is why I bought the air box lifter Quote CRASHTEST RACING IMMORTAL ATV http://www.offtopic.forum/data/MetaMirrorCache/7cbc5acb2a1ab76eac286e7fe5b4520d.jpg

chronicsmoke
Really, you never hit the box with the MX link? If it has I've never cracked it or noticed.. I thought for sure I'd need it but it hasn't been the case. That's with; 04/05 GTT setuo 06+ GTT setup 06+ Shorty setup 04/05 Elka lt setup.. I'm going to test and see with the new 06+ box without my shock on and use the compressed/extended lengths to see if I have any issues with clearence. Worse coes to worse Mark I've got a cheap riser kit that I dont think I can use with an 06 box Quote CRASHTEST RACING IMMORTAL ATV http://www.offtopic.forum/data/MetaMirrorCache/7cbc5acb2a1ab76eac286e7fe5b4520d.jpg

chronicsmoke
Hmm, how heavy are you Bryson? CJM
yea I thought you were pretty light bryson? I think Im just gonna make my own riser kit out of some AL flat bar and look for another cfm for a good deal later. Still got time, still need to do the motor. if you cant use the riser kit Im good for it Dave. Quote 04R work in progress
