El Mamito USMC Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Which ones are we going for a saw like three different pics. Anything short sleeve and button down is cool with me as long as it doesn't have any tribal crap or flames on it. That stuff is for flamers. Less is more I always say. And it's about a 36 hour ride to get to your home. Not surw yet.but defenetly no flames d ot tribal. The uniform one with shorts is just to give u an idea of how completr the uniform looks. And ill start the order in jan once we get all the sponsors on board.. Hey bill u said u got something going on with snap on? mawest Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Next is Saldana to borrego(cross of highway 3) Mamitos section. You'll leave for this section as soon as you're done with your first leg. - mile ~160 to mile ~200 - New rider. - I personally like this section because of the variation of terrain and because it is challenging. - Terrain: open desert, silk beds, washes, sharp-lava rocks, rocks and whoops of sand and whoops of rocks. - This section can get very hot. Important to be and stay hydrated. Check out this short clip: And another of going over the top of the "summit". Wild Bill you're in for a ride!! 1 Quote
Vasilios Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 il consolidate here the brake down.. i think it can be ME, Chirs, YOU and WB on the summit.. i can go again to Saldana..... The bike will be in good hands, I'm pretty good at not destroying my own gear, I hate break downs. 1 Quote

Go fast and dodge rocks, and try not to cut the tires.. I personally think we should be running itp holeshot hd tires for this, only because they are 6 ply and the side walls are super tough. Quote

They are around $20.00?!? and should last through most of the race. Do you have any input on this?? Lizard lick towing... now those guys are hillbillies!!! and we for sure do not want to resemble them. 1 Quote

Vasilios Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Wild Bill are you ready for this!?!?!?!?! I hope this get you excited. It gives me that tingle just behind my nuts LOL. When I am done I will put this all together and get it out to you guys so you can review it and make suggested changes. Summit - miles 100 to ~mile 160 (Saldana) Wild Bills section - terrain- worst, bumpy, rocky..... - rider must be the "workhorse, best shape and smart" - fresh new rider at mile 100 - to get to mile 100 does take awhile, rider must leave early. - ****the main objective for this rider is to take care of the bike and get it to the next rider.******** - If rider is careless or reckless and something goes wrong with the bike, the race is over! (breakdown and there is no way to get help fast). I'm stoked about this whole thing, I can't wait I wish I could go now. 2 Quote

mawest Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I do not have AT&T. I think I will go ahead and get a prepaid phone. What do you mean you have it covered? Yes, I too can't wait for this to go down. Too bad we're not doing the 1000 in a month. Another thing that Mamito can shed light on is getting Mexican vehicle insurance... Quote

mawest Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Here is my order for shirts. Myself : Mark West Crew: Ben Brazier Bill, No your insurance in the states will not work south of the border. I looked it up yesterday and it's roughly $10.00/day and upto $20.00 depending on how much coverage you want. I will try to call Verizon this week and see if they will work down there and if so what the charges would be. I'll let you know. 1 Quote
mawest Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 How about some more race info!!!!! -Borrego to San Matias - Rider change at Borrego (crossing highway 3) - Take time to check and inspect the bike, tires. - This is the point where many teams feel "the race starts" - Time to stretch her legs and go for it - Nice stretch to open the throttle. - Fast with small and medium whoops. - Turn on the camera and race along with the bike One thing that I think is important to say is that be quad does not sit their idle waiting for a rider to get there. If he is late the quad leaves and we can try to arrange a spot to get him in somewhere else. Good idea or not?? 1 Quote

I'm going to want to insure it for about 12000.00 cause that's what it will cost to get it close to where it's at now, with the purchase of a brand new bike. And if verizon doesn't work then I'll go for the prepaid phone, not a big deal. Or get a sat phone. Quote
Vasilios Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Mamito I need some lighting, can you give me some pricing on some nice led lighting, I went rippin through a 840' tunnel Sunday with no lights and it probably wasn't one of my wiser moves. What do you think about like a six inch dual row led light bar with mounts for the bumper area. Quote
