well guys my update..

 

the quad frame is on the shop and waiting to do some work on it and then blam... back to racing. on the engine

 

were still missing a lil bering that it got damage and couldn't use the oem one and the shaft for the tranny lever(the one pushing the clutch out inside the tranny) its to short., we have no idea why so were ordering a new and see whats up....

 

btw I already ordered my Drift Camera 720HD.. 55 bucks cant be beat...

 

and al ready found the base I want for my lights switchs

x2 on the dirt works for getting shocks redone. I had mine done and i like it! The bonus is the linkage, it has a built in skidplate and sure can take a beating.

 

It's either dirtworks's redone stock shock or high end aftermarket shocks. :)

new (with me) clutch cover.. it holds a lil more oil,. so it helps .. plus all my clutch parts are Hinson.. so might as well...

I been informing myself about the best antenna fot our radios.. since u guy will br using mine ill get 3 and bill can get his own, if he wants..

 

 

 

OK, after more research, there is apparently a MX connector and a MXI connector. While they appear to be the same in all the photos, the MX tends to be more often associated with Motorola Radios while the MXI is more often associated with ICOM radios. So, with your frequency at 152.475, and Weatherman at 151.625, I suggest purchasing a Laird/Antenex #: EXH-155-MXI which is deigned for 150-160mhz range.

This antenna is 10.5 inches long and in my opinion will give you the greatest performance for your immediate application. The lower portion of the antenna is semi-rigid and the upper portion is semi-flexible. I use an almost identical antenna on my Yaesu radio and I'm quite pleased.

Your other option is to use a Laird/Antenex #: EXB-150-MXI

This antenna is only about 6" long and is designed for 150-162mhz.

Note: While the short length may be nice in the pack, the downside is your body will create more obstruction with the short antenna. You really want to get the antenna as high as possible to get the greatest performance. In addition, the longer antenna (provided it is designed for your frequency, the better quality transmission and reception you will obtain from it.)

Also, you will want to insure when you are positioned on your bike (quad) in your race/riding position, your antenna does not interfere with your helmet. It will be very uncomfortable to ave your antenna constantly rubbing and banging off the back side of your helmet for 500mi.

Here is a link where you should be able to purchase either of these antennas, or you can locate another source.

its alive... !!! now a brake in and then send the shocks to www.dirtworksmotorsports.com for service .... then were going to change the shims and add the extra parts and in april take it to www.racersedgeaz.com for dyno tunning, make sure the A/F is on the optimum

I have some bad news guys I was just at the doctors, due to some serious knee issues, I have to go in for some more testing this weekend, hopefully I just strained it. Something is moving around inside my knee. I can walk no problem, but stairs and being bent for any amount of time is killing me. I think the snowboarding for 25 years might be catching up. I'll keep you guys posted. In the mean time we might need to start looking for a replacement for myself. Sorry Boys I'm hoping for the best. Also any money I have already thrown in, I do not want back, it's only fair.

Ok the doc says if I want to continue doing all the fun things I like to do, I am going to need to get operated on, or put my life on permanent hold and get fat, and do nothing that I like to do. So my choice is the surgery and rehab, because sitting at home is a waste of life. So unfortunately I am going to have to bow out regretfully. Again any monies I have thrown in I do not want back at least a piece of me will be there. Do you guys need another radio, I did go out and buy an icom like mamito was talking about. I'll send it out to whom ever, it will not get used by me anyway. I'm sorry guys, I can't sit on the couch the rest of my life. I need to fix this problem. Good luck boys.

How much is needed per rider? (~$1500)

dude its sad to hear this, but Baja will always be there, and fuckuing up a joint and not talking care of it will only prevennt you from doinig Baja later in life.. and youll be sure your presence will be missed but wi´ll photoshop you in a few pics you so dont feel bad, LOL... }

Mamito I have a few questions for you, (I tried to read the most I could but there is 24 pages of post), just to sum up.

ok Medina... heres the basic brake down..

 

1- yes 1.5 K is the basic fund. with that is to cover the rooms, gas, 3 meals a day, membership, Baja pits, entry fee, tracker fee. its highly recommended that your guys bring your own money just in case we do run out of money from the main pot. any left over money from it will be divided in 4 to the riders..

 

2- travel day is may 31 , saturday. if you live in Phnx, youll meet us in the I-8 and I-10, near casa grande. there you join us and drive with us. its going to be a few vehicles since we also have a team from Hermosillo Sonora, joining us and traveling with us.. ill have an open 16ft trailer with my quad and chirs quad(he comes from Dallas), the other rider Mark is from Vegas and he'll drive down directly... there. soin total will be 3-4 chase trucks, yours , mines, chris and my wifes cherokee if needed.

 

3- pre running will be as pair or team if any one wants. so if all 4 want to go and get some by all means ... the more the safer ill be ..

 

4- so days off its from may 31 to june 8th

6- are you willing to accept the uniform fees and get the uniforms we already ordered to be made? your about Vasilios size so you should be good..

great replys... the uniform its short and botto crew shirt (so matching shorts and shirt) and extra tshirt.

if you bring some friends , not a problem 2-3 guys that can help chase great.. do you speak spanish? my quad its 100 ready for Baja, i been going since 04.. you can try and read the thread ( to many that i dont know where the pics are) and theres some pics of it. ill post more once its fully done...

 

and im glad to have another Baja expert rider... since the only one that been there is me.. and once i get on the quad, all my friends dont speak english and my other riders dont speak spanish, LOL...

some good pics from Laguna Salada... in this past San Felipe 250 , if every thing goes the same , this should be Stinky section..

 

I have a ton more of them but here's a selection of the motos & quads zipping over the lakebed at Laguna Del Diablo. Super flat, super straight so they were really hauling ass coming across.

702x, Tony Gera out of Santa Cruz, working on a shoe-string budget, running 4th across the lake and making time on the leaders. He ran out of gas later on and had to push the bike for 2 miles but had a great race overall.
