You guys need some trees in and around your tracks..lol.. here are a few vids of our tracks.. (no me )but on the track at the same time as me. (this is the first row I think my class is 4th row to go)

 

first race of this yr.

 

2nd and 3rd were at the same place we just when one way the first time and other way the 2nd time

 

round 5 this is the is the red river race where we (torn) race with (occra) by far one of the hardest tracks we have with the most riders. (this is the park where the Redbull last man standing was done two yrs in a row) also where i get most of my free riding done

 

rain came in on lap 3 or 4 and they stop the race due to how bad the track it got for us. check out the guy on his side at 6 min mark.. this track was around a race track so it was a lot of "open" racing..

 

anyway.. i hope i have what it takes to do this.. I have 2x my workout and planning getting 2 weekends a month of seat time to help out with training..

I know that we have talked about which stage of the race we will all be racing. Mamito, since you know the area better than all of us I think it's only far that you arrange our race order. All of us should end up with around 125ish miles. I'll post a link to the type of terrain that I am used to racing. If everyone else does the same maybe that would help you out.

This of course is not me. I tried to get this guy to join our team. He has one race left in this season and when it's over he will be crowned the 2013 NHHA champion. If you want FLEXX handle bars for your quad he is the guy to talk to.

 

 

first welcome to Chris to the team.. and it looks so far that the order will be the same as its listed in team members..

 

ill take the first stage so i can get in and out so i can chase for everyone else..

 

Vasilios will take the second part which will be the summit and some rocky sections, which hes used to ride..

 

then Mawest will take the speed course of the El Saldana(the south part of the Laguna salada) and getting into mikes skyranch..

 

and stinky will take the last leg which it were more "woods" are...

 

 

AGAIN THIS IS JUST IN CASE ITS SIMILAR TO THIS YEARS COURSE..

 

thing are bound to change.

 

 

also guys ill be staying in a new hotel for this 1000 and ill check it out to see if it fits our needs for equipment safety and parking of if were going to stay on the orginal one..

 

also i want to reserve the hotel near december so if you guys can please deposit at least 500 each ill be great so we have rooms..

 

 

also i need to know if were going to start prerunning on saturday or sunday. the sooner Vasilios can get to my place the sooner i can leave. ill be avaliable to leave anytime on friday...

 

 

 

one thing guys.. remember to buy your radio helmet harness and if you guys want so radios for your truck i can hook you guys up. aprox 300 each..

 

 

 

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS OPTION:

since were only 4 riders., we could do the SPORTMAN class.. it cheaper than Class 25(PRO) and ill be a few miles shorter... if its similar to this years set up. ill be 396 miles... so close to 100 miles each.

 

i think this migth be good since im not sure if we can keep up the pace for a PRO level (speed and skills)... please think about this..

 

i want to race a decent amount of miles for the $ were putting but we also need to be realistic about it...

a few questions

Will we have a gps on the quad (map)

Do we need to have copies or original (or any) titles for our quads to get in and out of us/mexico?

What is the gear (personal) should we look into or have?

What are the must to have on our quads for pre-running? (recommended tire sized as well)

 

I am sure there are more but thats just off the top of my head..

 

I will get you the $$ I will be doing two drops of 800 (and if more if needed) but i have to wait till after the 15th of oct. I am on the road starting friday and will not get to the bank till i get back.

My thought is...lets do the full 500. I think that we can keep a decent pace. May not be the fastest but I still think we will be okay. If the others vote otherwise, I will be satisfied with it.

Which would you prefer Mamito??

Chris... here are my thoughts to your post

 

You'll want full riding gear. Helmet, goggles, gloves, chest protector, boots, long sleeve riding shirts and pants. Some riders wear leg and knee pads too. I like to wear palm savers under my gloves.

I have 23 in the front and 22 in the back for tires. You'll want a full skid plate and nerf bars.

I am not sure about the GPS.

From my research you do not have to have any records to get your quad back into the states. May not be a bad idea though.

I may be forgetting something. So lets see what the others have to say.

 

I have a question for you guys. My engine is bone stock. I am thinking about putting in a stage 2 hot cam. Do you guys think that it makes your engine less reliable? I am skeptical to do it.

--no we wont have a gps on the quad, but if someone has one we could use it..so that same owner can have it back at the end of the race..

 

-- you need 2 uniforms (one for prerunning and a clean one for race day, optional), SNELL 2010 approved helmet, neck brace, boots. chest protector and boots. the only thing that Score will check is the Helmet..

 

-- i run with 23, 22.. and you defenetly need skid plates all over... nice arms and suspension(i can hok you up if you need too) , i can get you also rear suspension with link if you need it.

 

and i just for all us 4 just 1.5K per rider so 750 a time its ok.. if you bring he friend he only needs to put $ for his room. all his expenses are on him...

 

 

BTW my quad is TWIST THROTTLE so you guys i highly advise you to practice with one..

to be honest not sure... we can defeently keep a decent pace and fisnish but we will be paying a lot more for 25 miles per rider .. let see how much the cut will be and ill bring it to vote once the time comes..

yes YOU DO NEED YOUR CURRENT REGISTRATION TO BRING THE QUAD TO BAJA

 

its still reliable but remember to jet it properly... i can hook you up with parts if you need ..

what gps is recommended and can we get something from score to load on it so we have points to shoot for?

 

my motor is stock. I do not feel the need to change anything in it due to reliability but thats just me.

 

I have full skids on it (no counting the arms) I have nerf bars and suspension. but have to go see my guy to get it setup for this. Might need need new link I will see. (link to a pic https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=553496274693285&set=t.1297793061&type=3&theater )

 

 

I will bring a copy of my title (need to put it in my name as well) but we do not have registration here on them.

Stage two hot cams rips mawest I have a stage two and a three and changing the cam isn't really going to affect the quads reliability. Just the power curve. Make sure it's shimmed correctly and you get a good intake. And your gonna need to rejet

Who else rides with a twist throttle? Mamito we may need to make a change on the throttle setup. I ride with the thumb throttle and really dislike a twist on a quad. How do the rest of you feel about it.

The thing is that in long races twist is more confortable and it helps on the fatige of the arm

 

 

I have a twist, I just can not do a thumb too many yrs on dirt/street bikes

i can get you nice prices on LSR arms and the Texeira arms from Immortal ATV.. also for the shockk if you guys are on a budget we can send them to http://dirtworksmotorsports.com/ and have them revalved and made long travel...

 

i know them personally and they are the best company out there besides JET... and even when jet was going out of bussines, they only referded their customers to DW. so you guys know we cant go wrong with them... they are the ones that are going to service mine to have them ready for the race..

I have thumb. I tried twist for a race and right back to thumb,

so we got 2 guys with thumb and 2 with twist... the thing is that i dont have the thumb set up no more... and for long races, twist is more comfortable... but its ok if you dont ride that much youll have about 250 miles to get used to it before the actual 125 race miles. LOL..

 

 

and here you got the official dates for next year guys... so you guys can plan accordingly..

yesterday i got off the phone with John from RE and it looks like my head its not really cracked but there are a lot of improvements that should have been done to it when i send it to PP and prep..

 

so they are servicing 100% of my head...valves, springs, and fix my PP.. so ill be even faster than before(like i really control it, lol). ill keep you guys posted...

This is the new results after the head was fix /upgraded by RE in Tucson..

 

And ill probably go with a HC3 to"get the real personality out and perform to its best and keep the realability intact" as said by the byilder..

 

What u guys think?

I dig it definitely go with the stage three cam though I love the mid range and top end I get out of mine. I'm running the stage two right now for the bottom end and mid range grunt for pulling hills. Looks like they made some nice improvements we should be rippin in baja. Are you doing anything with the bottom end. (Balanced crank, Carrillo rod, cp piston)?

Bottom is brand new oem exept the 12:5:1 CP that I put in in june.

 

 

You guys need to get an desert tank or oversize fuel tank. ImmortalAtv can hook u guys up.. since with the stock tank I were not sure if ull reach the next fuel point while prerunning

I just got done with my kind of workout...35 mile ride through the desert!!! Man it feels good to be out riding again. I am in the process of marking a 50 mile loop to ride on. I marked out a 30 miler when I was preparing for the other races, but it's not long enough. Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!!

Do any of you guys have a go pro? Do you know how long you can record on the go pro? 20, 30, 60 minutes or longer? I am thinking about borrowing my brothers go pro. For 2 reasons. 1) I think it would pretty cool to have some footage of our experience. 2) I think that I will record part of each day and upload it to Facebook so that my family can see what it's like there and what we're doing each day.

 

I know that wal-mart has an off brand of the go pro. I also heard that it is not that great. Has a delay in and if you're going fast everything is blurry.
