Blair is pulling out. He's declared victory and he's leaving because the British people and the Labor Party have told him so in no uncertain terms. They have fired him. He'll be gone in a few months saved from the ignoble political death of a vote of no confidence. If we had a parliamentary system, Republicans would have dumped bush,jr months ago. Perhaps years ago. As it is, Republicans will suffer dearly in 2008. Which is why Democrats are in no hurray to impeach and attempt an ouster. Blair has acquiesed in order to avoid the ignoble stigma of a vote of no confidence and a quick election that could mean the end of Labor's control of the government.
