smutt butt Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 WTF is the deal with the home printer scams. I went to get some ink for my 6 month old lexmark printer and the 2 cartridges were $66.00. So I look at the printers sitting next to the ink and bought a lexmark copier/printer/photo printer for $55.00. Now the 6 mo printer is in the trash. Do the printer companies make more profit on new printers than the ink or something? So much for conserving resources. Quote "This place may be bombed and we will be killed. We love death. phreakwars Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Printer companies rely on cheap bastards like you who "JUST WANT A PRINTER THAT WORKS". They know they can sell you a model for under $100 that will make THEM even bigger profits in refills. I own a high end Canon printer... cost of refills... less then $10 ($6.99) on CANON ink, not generic.. Buyer beware ?? Nahh.. more like "CHEAPSKATE DESERVES IT FOR BEING CHEAP" . . smutt butt Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 I rarely use the printer. The ink would dry up before i ran out of ink. I guess i need to start charging a certain 14yo girl a $1.00 a page. Quote "This place may be bombed and we will be killed. We love death. The US loves life. That is the big difference between us." snafu Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Yeah I know just what you mean. They are made to only last a few years at best. I was tired of HP so I just bought a Epson. It loads the paper from the top so I hope there isn't to much jamming like my old HP. I copied some pictures and I have already run the ink down to nothing. I printed about 10 pages. This piece of shit takes 6 cartridges. Checking the price on line its' about $20 a cartridge. I know the cartridges that came with the printer have less ink in them but when I do buy the high volume cartridges, it's gonna cost me $120. I'm pissed! eddo Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 So I look at the printers sitting next to the ink and bought a lexmark copier/printer/photo printer for $55.00. with it being a Lexmark, you'll be lucky if the printer last the life of your current ink cartridges... RoyalOrleans Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 with it being a Lexmark, you'll be lucky if the printer last the life of your current ink cartridges... I had a Lexmark at one time. It got in a fight with my Ruger .9mm, the gun won. Believe it or not. Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.
RoyalOrleans Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Buyer beware ?? Nahh.. more like "CHEAPSKATE DESERVES IT FOR BEING CHEAP" I've been accused of being a frugal bastard, but there are a few things that I do not skimp on. They are; toilet paper, steak, vehicles, and computer hardware, my printer is no exception. snafu Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I spent $180 on this Epson printer. That's after the $50 instant rebate. How much should I spend? I don't need an office printer. Fuck that. phreakwars Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16828102008 The cost of refills pays for the printer many times over. Print quality is fucking superb. I love mine. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
snafu Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 This is what I just bought. It's an Epson RX580. It's nosiy and slower than my HP but the quality is real good. The pictures came out perfect. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63059193 But see. Check out the ink. I didn't know any printers came with more than two cartiridges. This thing comes with six. At 19.99 a pop. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/BuyInkResults.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63059193 Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. They have a rating system so you get an idea of how good the recipe will come out. And most of the time people leave comments about what changes if any they made to the recipe to improve the dish.
