The Gloves Are off for this one people! A new debate for the old "prolife vs. prochoice people.

Here is the debate:

A preganant woman gets into a car accident caused by a drunk driver. The pregnancy is terminated in the crash.

1. Should there be consequences for the pregnancy termination beyond the normal D.U.I. (D.W.I.) laws?

2. What if it had been a miracle for the woman to get pregnant in the first place due to health conditions and she is completely devistated by the loss?

3. What if she was on her way to the abortion clinic?

4. For those who believe in an additional penalty, what if it was truly accident and the other driver was not D.U.I. (D.W.I.)

Let's hear what you all have to think on this and your reasoning.

Well. most states carry involuntary manslaughter for such instances and I know in my state the child would have been considered a life and therefore a drunk would be prosecuted for teh death. I believe one would have to seriously prove byond any doubt that it was an acident to avoid liability. As for being on the way to an abortion this is besides the fact as it was unknown to the driver of the other car. The woman could always choose not to press charges but the DA can always over rule that one. I actually found this to be a pretty silly question and I am wondering know why I am still posting.... Blah blah blah I am crinking and waiting to get though the opening credits of the search for the holy grail

Are you kidding me?

Drunk drivers are bad enough...but to involve a woman who is pregnant...they should be put to death period!

I quit driving under the influence about 3 years ago and have been doing it for since i was 19....I take cabs/busses if i am drinking...It is the right thing to do...

as far as involving an innocent life then fuck them...they need to die...a drunkk vs a baby...the argument is hardly concluseive(sp)

NOT TO SOUND LIKE IM NOT IN FAVOR OF THE CHILD WHO NEVER GOT THE CHANCE...however

In this country (america..land of the so called free) our public transportation is a disgrace... These things wouldnt happen if we planned ahead and figured things out.....We may 'think' we are better than europe..but we are noo where near close....Our transportation is ver sad. Unless you live in New York, boston, chicago, san fran sisco etc...its easy to see why people drive and then get drunk.. ...

We try to act like we are the most civilized country in the planet but we are far behind. We are trying...but unfortunately most people dont want the city to budget for public transportation..they would rather have a football field...

Perhaps we need to rethink our goals like the rest of the world does...politically and socially...But maybe i am the olnly one?

I'll attempt to answer your questions with the utmost respect and sincerity.

1. No. DUI, DWI laws will vary from state to state, however they are usually pretty strict and I'm sure in some municipalities there are clauses to prosecute accidental prenatal death caused by a drunk driver. I know South Carolina and Tennessee have similar clauses. ... just stay the hell out of Tennessee... worst state in the union.

2. I believe it's a miracle that anyone, this day in age, would want to procreate. Those few that do and are carrying children should not be on the road anyways. This would be a pity plea to throw before the jury/court when they realize the offender is going to get the maximum penalty, but not charged for accidental prenatal death.

3. Well if she was raped by some jungle bunny spook or inseminated by her gap-toothed cousin, Gog with one eye that shoots to the northeast and one that shoots to the southwest, then the abortion would be fine. However, if she was a completely healthy individual who got knocked up by some random guy... then no... hell no. There are hundreds of couples out there that can not procreate on their own and would love to adopt a healthy child. Especially an asian or white child.

4. If it was a true accident and the other driver was not charged with a DUI, or DWI, then that person would have to live with the guilt for the rest of their natural life.

No. A pregnant woman is a pregnant woman. She can sue for emotional distress. He can be jailed for INJURY. But he didn't kill anyone. If he DID, show me the killed person's social security card.

Why don't they show you the dead person

Have you ever lost a child?

Yes.

Do you have any idea what that is like?

Yes.

Do you have children?

Yes. 3.

Are you even old enough to know how babies are made?

I'm still working on it, check back with me later on this one please.

Hmm...

Hypotheticals like this one are BULLSHIT. In addition, trying to argue the "It's a Baby" - "No, it's a fetus", argument is absolute BULLSHIT.

Whether you like it or not, abortion is a FACT OF LIFE IN THE WORLD TODAY.

Do I like it? Unimportant.

Would I use it? No.

Do I think it is used too often. Perhaps.

Am I willing to deny it as a proper medical treatment for women who need or desire it, so that I can personally help take us back to the days of dirty table and coathanger abortions being performed in some filthy dark room by a scumbag? Absolutely not.

.

I put no stock in religion. By the word "religion" I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much "religion" in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness.

If the mother to be does a few steps of the tango it is likely that the umbilacle(sp) cord will fashion a crude noose and hang the little tot before he or she ever see's first light. Just a mental picture I thought might be worth sharing. :D

Well now I am shocked! That would be a flagrant waste of good baby! You could at least use em for bait. Do they have masky down there? If not the gators would probably go for it. Rule of thumb: when disposing of unwanted meat one should try to acquire an equall or greater amount of wanted meat. It's just sound bussiness practice. :D
