builder Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 A recent arrest on Queensland's Palm Island resulted in the death of Mulrunji Doomadgee. The coroner's report stated that the arresting officer, Sgt. Hurley, did not use excessive force in arresting and detaining Doomadgee, despite evidence of broken ribs, and a liver split clean in two. The resulting public outcry saw the overturning of the coroner's report, and Hurley looks likely to face a manslaughter charge. Palm Island is said to be the most violent place in Australia, though I would say that unreported crime in places like Port Keats would lend the lie to that. The Palm Islanders went on a violent rampage following the death of Doomadgee, burning down the Police station, a cop four wheel drive, the town shop, and several other government provided buildings. The rioters also demanded that the police leave the island within one hour. The police congretated at the airport, awaiting back-ups, and soon brought the rioters under control. The question is, why didn't they just leave, and never go back? With almost zero employment prospects for the islanders, and a chronic substance abuse problem, why not leave these indigenes to their "traditional" lifestyle? That being hunter-gatherer-fishermen. builder Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 This link gives some insight into the situation on Palm Island. Tropical Paradise? It fuckingwell could be. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
Jhony5 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Interesting. Is there any industry on the island? Some reason why they refuse to leave the indigenous people to their own devices? The Palm Islanders went on a violent rampage following the death of Doomadgee, burning down the Police station, a cop four wheel drive, the town shop, and several other government provided buildings.Hey, already I can tell they are smarter then our ****** rioters here in America. They always run amuck through their own neighborhoods and tear shit up. I don't think they even touched a police or government building during the LA riots in the '90s. a chronic substance abuse problem, What drug is it? Meth? why not leave these indigenes to their "traditional" lifestyle? Is there any vested interest in the island, like ports, industry or crops that they export? If not I say fuck 'em. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
builder Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Interesting. Is there any industry on the island? Not to my knowledge, Jhony. Though it could be a tourist mecca. Most of the islands on our east coast are. And, most of our touristas want a "real" indigenous experience. Aboriginal artifacts, whether real of fake, are our biggest sellers. Some reason why they refuse to leave the indigenous people to their own devices? Mainly because since we introduced grog, they kill eachother at escalating rates, and somehow this is all "our" fault. Hey, already I can tell they are smarter then our ****** rioters here in America. They always run amuck through their own neighborhoods and tear shit up. I don't think they even touched a police or government building during the LA riots in the '90s. On communities such as Palm Island, all you will find is a school, a clinic, a copshop, and a foodstore/retail outlet. Oh, and a watch-house/gaol. What drug is it? Meth? Alcohol first. Hydro second. Kava third. Then petrol sniffing. No meth to my knowledge. Is there any vested interest in the island, like ports, industry or crops that they export? If not I say fuck 'em. Nope. I say leave them to sort out their own shit. They'll be swimming to the mainland within a month. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.

builder Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Grog is the root of all evil. I agree, but it goes deeper than that over here. The welfare cycle has created a cargo cult mentality, whereby guilt trips are laid on the liberal-minded apologists, and the indigenes sit back and just take and take and take. These people show reporters through perfectly sound houses that have been trashed and defaced by their own hands, as 'evidence' of how poorly they are being treated. If they want to spend their lives in the gutter of life, I say let them. Bulldoze the houses. Close the shop and bulldoze that too. Take away all the supplied staff, like health workers, teachers, coppers, groundsmen, and just leave the place like it was a hundred years ago. If these shitheads want something to whinge and whine about, give them a real reason to feel sorry for themselves. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
RoyalOrleans Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 If they want to spend their lives in the gutter of life, I say let them. I concur. Has the term "grog" come to mean a narcotic? Because the original meaning was a mixture of rum and water. Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.
builder Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 I concur. Has the term "grog" come to mean a narcotic? Because the original meaning was a mixture of rum and water. I've only met two indig Aussies that could maintain while drinking rum. The drink of choice is beer and cheap boxed wine. Don't get me wrong now. I have many aboriginal friends from my time spent in our Northern Territory, and I'd gladly sit down under a shady tree and drink with them. But these Palm Islanders are far enough down the line of civil advancement, that they should now be capable of finding a job, and sustaining a rather decent form of civilised life. They don't want to. They choose to piss up their welfare, trash their supplied housing, abuse the medical staff, criticise the teachers, and burn down infrastructure supplied purely for their own benefit. If they want to live without the cops, then they can do it without any other form of help from our government. Pull out, and leave them to it. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
Lethalfind Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I always thought Austrailia would be an interesting place to visit however I never thought I wanted to see how the Aborigini live or buy artifacts etc... The animals look interesting, Dingos, Kangaroos, Kiwi etc. but not the natives, no thanks. Interesting. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

She's representative of those dumbarses that won't ever make it to our shores. The European tourists (and smart Americans) want an indigenous experience more than seeing the Opera house. Bank on it. RoyalOrleans Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 The European tourists (and smart Americans) want an indigenous experience more than seeing the Opera house. Bank on it. I guess I want the aboriginal experience because I don't want to see any white Australians. Besides Opera is for fat chicks. And I'm sure any Australian travelling the States would love to see our aboriginal people, sorry we keep them on reservations clinging to their firewater, gambling, and waning pride. RoyalOrleans Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Sounds familiar. Those that escape the reservations are treated as equals? Nowadays, yes they are. In the days predating WWI, our aboriginal tribesfolk were still persecuted in the West. In the East, the handling was a little different... push them as far west of the Mississippi as possible.
