sovikolp Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 yes. They are horrible. What happen to creative people who could write and make climax of the story and move us? did they all fall off the planet or something? This is what I mean, when I say this society is crumbling quickly. The Reality TV is just like the self checkout machine. It's not talented, it doesn't work, it's annoying. All i watch is Law and order these days, and that's not that inspiring at all. It's cheaper for network to have normal, talentless people to get together and create a longer version of Jerry Springer Show. I guess people really have no life, if they have to watch someone's elses real life unfold on TV. Quote
SlIgHtLyOpInIoNaTeD Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Watching these groups of people trying to get along has gotten to be the root cause of why I don't watch a lot of tv. On another hand, I don't want to put them all down because there was one recent Reality show that caught my attention and that was Hell's Kitchen. It was more of a game show than reality, because the focus was not how well they lived together or anything like that. The suspense that they put on that show was amazing, it kept me tuning in every week. As far as the show that puts 7 people in a house together to see which season someone will finally get shot in. I hate the Real World. I mean where do they find these people. Those people on that show are nothing real. They put on a huge front for the cameras for 3 months and have a cool vacation. It was a good idea back in the day, but now it's just getting redundant. It would not be quite so bad if MTV did not show the re-runs all weekened long and whenever possible at night. CSI is probably my favorite show at this point, followed close 2nd by Law and Order, but other than that and some random shows on Discovery of History channel, there is no tv any more(at least til NCAA football starts back). All in all Reality has ruined the future of television. I really hope some of these network buffs with there big dollar and big leather chairs can come up with better ideas for when my kids are watching one day! sovikolp Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 yeh, what next, my kids in their classroom. I'll be watching that when I get home? my wife cooking dinner before I get home? Quote
SlIgHtLyOpInIoNaTeD Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Maybe we could watch a Wal-Mart parking lot!! Quote Free speech is meant to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech, by definition, needs no protection. -Neal Boortz

I really hope some of these network buffs with there big dollar and big leather chairs can come up with better ideas for when my kids are watching one day! I dont think it has ruined the future of television.... I think it will create a new renaissance to make shows better and stronger. Reality TV has ruined game shows however....This is generally what they are, or at least any ones with merrit. I enjoy big brother and the amazing race. Both are game centered, or at least thats how i look at them! DizzyME Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Reality tv is just a phase, people will bored with it soon enough. It's like the corny sitcom phase of the 80's. And I watch Law and Order too, SVU is my favorite. Quote
hugo Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The only reality show I watch is Lost. It is the only reality show where people actually get killed. DizzyME Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Thats what needs to happen. The first person to die on Survivor or Fear Factor would probably put an end to those shows quick enough. Quote
hugo Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Yep, I always root for someone to get eaten by a croc or something. DizzyME Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 You would think it would have happened by now. It probably has, but the world will never know... the families have been paid off, and the show was edited. lol Quote
Komrade Vostok Hazard Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Here's a good reality show: Footage of the war in Iraq on the evening news. Now, into serious mode I said it once, and I'll say it again. Reality shows are just mind rot garbage full of a bunch of Z(zzzz) list celebrities (for a whole 15 minutes, after which they go back to being Z-list nobodies). Let's see: Real world: A bunch of 20-something dipshits stuck in a house none of them can afford, and spend three months bitching about so-and-so being racist if they breathe funny around the token black/asian/mexican/martain guy, and then proceeding to piss at eachother over other pointless crap. Big Brother : Cheap real world rip-off Survivor: The turd of turds. Hey look, a guy eating maggots. Oh such mindful television. And where the fuck is the "reality" here? There is nothing fucking real about people sleeping on the ground on some fucking Island or bush out in the middle of nowhere. Fear Factor: People doing stupid stunts was at least funny when those dipshit skateboarders did it on that show they had on MTV about five years ago. It's not even remotely funny or interesting on this crap. And the eating maggots sucked on Survivor, and it sucks now. Temptation Island: How hard is it to NOT fuck around on your girlfriend for a few weeks? The apprentice: Hey Donald? Is a few million more dollars now enough to wipe your ass with? American Idol: So you got star-struck and ran away from home to chase an illusion of grandeur, and got kicked off because you suck (no suprise here) Now you're going to be working the street corner for the rest of your life, along with the winner of this stupid contest after reality (actual reality, not these stupid shows) sets in and then realizes that no one gives a shit about his/hers/it's crappy single. And then there are the thousands of other ones that ceased to exist past the first few screenings. Why not? because Reality shows SUCK. Quote All bullshit, No Business.
